Earlier, on October 21, a convoy of 20 vehicles belonging to the Egyptian Red Crescent entered the Gaza Strip. Rafah is the only crossing into Gaza not controlled by Israel. However, airstrikes have damaged roads and prevented aid trucks from reaching the area.
The United Nations estimates that 100 trucks of goods per day are needed to meet the needs of the people of Gaza.
The World Health Organization said it is working closely with Egyptian authorities and the Palestinian Red Crescent to ensure the delivery of aid to areas in need. This aid is estimated to amount to thousands of tons, provided by Egyptian humanitarian agencies and organizations, as well as contributions from the international community.

In other developments, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said Washington would deploy more military assets to the Middle East to demonstrate support for Israel.
Accordingly, the US plans to deploy the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missile defense system and add Patriot air defense missile battalions to the Middle East, and is ready to deploy more troops. Washington has already deployed two aircraft carriers to the Middle East, along with numerous support ships and approximately 2,000 Marines.
