On April 18 in Hanoi, Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) and Vietnam Airlines held a ceremony to award a cooperation contract to provide Internet services on aircraft - IFC (In-Flight Connectivity). This cooperation between Vietnam Airlines and VNPT brings the concept of "connectivity in the air" to reality.

IFC service will be deployed on the Airbus A350 fleet. In the first phase, IFC service will be installed on 10 Airbus A350 aircraft - a modern aircraft line operating long-haul international routes to the US, Europe and some domestic routes of Vietnam Airlines.

VNPT Group General Director Huynh Quang Liem and Vietnam Airlines General Director Le Hong Ha jointly signed a cooperation contract in the presence of guests from both sides.

The service will be deployed from July 2025, marking an important step in Vietnam Airlines' digital transformation roadmap and improving the passenger experience. It is expected that from 2026, Vietnam Airlines will expand this service to the entire fleet, bringing a seamless connection experience to millions of passengers each year.

With the latest advances in aviation connectivity technology, it is expected that the Internet speed on Vietnam Airlines flights will have a service availability of 99%, well meeting the needs of work, entertainment, and continuous connection of passengers throughout the flight.

The cooperation in implementing IFC services between two leading enterprises in the telecommunications and aviation sectors not only marks a new development step in passenger services but also affirms the determination to implement the national digital transformation policy in key economic sectors.

The signing ceremony is a specific action of VNPT Group and Vietnam Airlines to implement Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on the content of "developing synchronous, modern, and widespread digital infrastructure" and "building digital economic models in key industries", especially transportation and logistics.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Dang Ngoc Hoa - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Airlines - emphasized: "The deployment of Internet services in the air is a clear demonstration of Vietnam Airlines' digital transformation efforts, while also demonstrating its commitment to improving service quality according to international standards.

We believe that the cooperation with VNPT will help Vietnam Airlines create a more modern, convenient and connected flight experience for passengers than ever before.”

Mr. To Dung Thai - Chairman of the Board of Members of VNPT Group - shared that cooperation with Vietnam Airlines in the IFC project is an important milestone in VNPT's digital service development strategy: "VNPT commits to closely coordinate with Vietnam Airlines to bring the best experiences to Vietnam Airlines passengers when using Internet connection services on board.

VNPT believes that this is a very favorable premise for Vietnam Airlines to expand the deployment of IFC services on all fleets, contributing to building a modern aviation ecosystem worthy of international standards."

Previously, in 2024, the two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation, agreeing on a roadmap for implementing IFC services on international and domestic flights, including completing legal procedures, installing equipment, configuring software and providing operational support.

Through the cooperation in deploying IFC services, VNPT and Vietnam Airlines are laying the foundation for a digital aviation ecosystem, where customer experiences are personalized, data is exploited intelligently and operations are more efficient thanks to advanced technology platforms....
