Children and their mother experience making scented candles.

One of the activities that attracts many children is making handmade scented candles. Here, children will be guided on how to melt vegetable wax, choose and mix natural essential oils such as lemongrass, mint, rose to create gentle, relaxing scents.

Each completed candle is not only a lovely little gift made by the children themselves, but also a way to discover and appreciate the scents of nature.

Children are guided and make scented bags and candles from natural materials.

In addition, children also participated in making herbal scented bags, using traditional ingredients such as dried cinnamon, star anise, grapefruit leaves, dried lemongrass, lavender...

These ingredients are put into small cloth bags that the children sew themselves, giving off a pleasant scent that has a relaxing and natural deodorizing effect. Through this activity, the children not only learn to distinguish scents but also understand the application value of herbs in life.

Participating in the program, children also get to try their hand at decorative painting on pebbles, where they are free to create funny images of nature, from flowers, animals to mountain and forest landscapes.

The activity of finding leaves and grafting trees helps children practice their ability to observe carefully and learn to recognize plants through the shape and color of their leaves.

All activities are not only entertaining but also an opportunity for children to practice their perception, develop observation skills, and above all, nurture a love of nature, thereby raising awareness of protecting the living environment.

Within the framework of the series of events “The scent of the mountains”, Lao Cai Provincial Museum also launched the contest “Young tour guides – I tell stories about the mountains and forests”. The contest aims to encourage children to play the role of “young tour guides”, telling stories, introducing the exhibition space at the museum with their own feelings.

The contest not only helps students improve their presentation skills and content creation, but also arouses their awareness of preserving nature and the cultural identity of the Northwest mountains and forests.
