Watching the relegation battle in the V-League is exciting.

While the championship race embodies the excitement and essence of a league, the relegation battle, conversely, also provides emotional value for viewers—a distinctive characteristic of the V-League.

The V-League relegation battle is proving to be exciting.

Quy Nhon Binh Dinh Club saves itself

Quy Nhon Binh Dinh FC recently lost toSHB Da Nang in a crucial "relegation battle" and are now only 2 points ahead of their rivals. However, the team from Binh Dinh has played one less game – and that is a vital opportunity for coach Bui Doan Quang Huy's team to save themselves from relegation.

On June 3rd, Quy Nhon Binh Dinh FC will play their rescheduled V-League Round 20 match, hosting Hanoi Police FC at home. Before and after this rescheduled match, they will also have away games against Dong A Thanh Hoa (Round 24) and Ho Chi Minh City FC (Round 25) – two teams that may have already secured their safety from relegation and no longer have much motivation to play. However, the match against Hanoi Police FC is a different matter, as the police team needs points to compete for the championship.

Besides their away match in Binh Duong (round 22), both Quang Nam and Song Lam Nghe An will face four very tough opponents: Da Nang, Ha Tinh, Nam Dinh, and Hoang Anh Gia Lai. This will be an opportunity for the two teams behind them, Quy Nhon Binh Dinh and SHB Da Nang, to take advantage.

Although SHB Da Nang is still at the bottom of the table, the point difference with second-to-last Quy Nhon Binh Dinh is now only 2 points. More importantly, they have their fate in their own hands as they still have matches against Quang Nam and Song Lam Nghe An - two direct competitors - in rounds 23 and 26.

The team from Nghe An currently sits in 12th place, but is only 3 points ahead of bottom-placed Da Nang, equivalent to one win. After the 1-2 defeat against Hanoi FC at Vinh Stadium on the afternoon of May 10th, coach Phan Nhu Thuat admitted: "This season, the relegation battle is very exciting. Song Lam Nghe An has 4 more matches left, and we will strive in each game to achieve our goal."

Identifying the 5 teams that will secure their survival in the league early.

Besides the relegation battle, according to the organizers' calculations, five teams are guaranteed to avoid relegation from the V-League 2024-2025 season.

Specifically, the top 5 teams are Nam Dinh, Hanoi, The Cong Viettel, Hong Linh Ha Tinh, and Hanoi Police (33 points), ensuring they are more secure than Da Nang (20 points) and Nghe An (17 points), both of whom only have 4 matches left to play in the V.League.

For Hong Linh Ha Tinh specifically, this has truly been a successful season. Last year, the team from Central Vietnam narrowly avoided relegation, if not for defeating PVF-CAND in the play-off match. But this year, Ha Tinh FC has demonstrated effective play in each round. As a result, their current 4th place position not only secures their survival in the league but also propels them into the medal contention phase of the season.

In other developments, with the current point difference, Hai Phong (28 points) and Thanh Hoa (30 points) are not directly relegated. However, both teams need to accumulate 3-4 points to guarantee their survival. Da Nang, Binh Dinh, Nghe An, Quang Nam, Hoang Anh Gia Lai, Ho Chi Minh City, and Binh Duong still face the risk of relegation. The race to avoid relegation in the final stages promises to be very exciting.

In the race for medals and the championship, the group of clubs still having a chance to win the cup has narrowed down to the top 6 teams: Nam Dinh, Hanoi, The Cong - Viettel, Hong Linh Ha Tinh, Hanoi Police, and Thanh Hoa.
