On the evening of May 16, Traffic Police Team No. 3 (Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police) deployed a working group to ensure traffic safety in the Nga Tu So area (Dong Da district, Hanoi), focusing on controlling and handling the situation of drivers violating alcohol concentration.

According to Traffic Police Team No. 3, the coming summer also means an increase in people's demand for travel and picnics, leading to an increase in alcohol consumption. What is worrying is that many people still subjectively drive after drinking alcohol, leading to a very high risk of accidents, especially in the late afternoon and at night.
Determined to control alcohol violations, not only Traffic Police Team No. 3 but also local units of the Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police have increased mobile patrols, especially on key routes, areas with concentrated restaurants, bars, and entertainment venues to inspect, detect and handle violations early.

During the shift of Traffic Police Team No. 3 in the Nga Tu So area, the Traffic Police working group discovered many cases of people driving under the influence of alcohol, with violations ranging from low to high. Most of the violators admitted to drinking beer in the afternoon or evening of the same day. The common reason given was 'it's a hot weekend so I had a few glasses of beer to cool down'.
For example, the driver of a motorbike with license plate number 29F1-064.XX violated the alcohol concentration level 1 after drinking beer with colleagues but still confidently thought that "drinking was within control" so he subjectively drove home.

Another case is a male driver driving a motorbike with license plate number 35B2-085.XX with an alcohol concentration of 0.456 mg/L of breath.
"It's so hot, and it's the weekend so my friends gathered to drink beer. I know driving a motorbike after drinking alcohol is wrong, but I didn't think I would encounter a traffic police checkpoint on the way home," said motorbike driver 35B2-085.XX.

Notably, during the mission, the task force also discovered a case of alcohol concentration violation while driving a motorbike, suspected of intentionally erasing the vehicle's license plate.
After making the initial report, the working group handed over the vehicle and related people to Khuong Thuong Ward Police for verification and clarification.

According to Major Duong Thanh Tuan, an officer of Traffic Police Team No. 3, patrolling and controlling is very important in preventing violations. However, to effectively reduce alcohol violations, the Traffic Police force still focuses on propaganda work, coordinating with local units, residential groups, parents' associations, transport businesses... to encourage people to "don't drive if you drink alcohol", use taxis, technology cars or ask relatives to help take them home safely.
