To generate revenue for the city budget, four plots of land that were once hotly contested for sale at high prices in the Thu Thiem Urban Area will be auctioned again. After many years of waiting for new investors, these plots of land are now swamps, lakes, and overgrown with reeds.
These 4 "golden" plots of land have a prime location, located right next to Thu Thiem bridge, to the Northeast is the developing Sala urban area, to the West is connected to Binh Thanh district via Thu Thiem bridge, looking straight through Landmark 81.
This year, Ho Chi Minh City set a target of collecting 34,000 billion VND for the State budget from land use. However, in 6 months, the city has only collected more than 3,500 billion VND from land use. Ho Chi Minh City has decided to continue auctioning "golden" land plots in Thu Thiem to balance revenue and expenditure.
These 4 "golden" plots of land have a total area of over 30,000m2, and are assets of the Ho Chi Minh City Land Fund Development Center. The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee approved the auction policy in May 2021.
In which, the first lot is marked 3-5, with an area of 6,446.1m2. The second lot is marked 3-9, with an area of 5,009.1m2. The third lot is marked 3-12, with an area of 10,059.7m2. The fourth lot is marked 3-8, with an area of 8,568.1m2.
According to Dan Tri reporter, the main entrance to the 4 plots of land that are about to be auctioned is fenced off.
Inside the "golden" lands, most are swamps and lakes.
Many people go inside the land to fish.
Around the land, grass and trees grow wildly.
At lot 3-8, many sewer pipes and construction materials are lying around.
Because there were no guards watching, people arbitrarily opened roads to enter these lands.
The internal roads surrounding these plots of land become daily stops and resting places for car drivers.
At the end of 2021, when these 4 "golden" land lots were put up for auction, Ngoi Sao Viet Real Estate Investment Company Limited (under Tan Hoang Minh Group) won the auction for lot 3-12 with a price of 24,500 billion VND. Binh Minh Investment, Development and Trading Company Limited won the auction for lot 3-9 with a price of 5,026 billion VND. Sheen Mega Joint Stock Company won the auction for lot 3-8 with a price of 4,000 billion VND. Dream Republic Joint Stock Company won the auction for lot 3-5 with a price of 3,820 billion VND. However, all 4 winning enterprises withdrew their deposits, and the auction results were canceled.
According to a representative of the Department of Finance, boosting revenue from auctioning land plots in Thu Thiem is one of the solutions for Ho Chi Minh City to be able to complete this year's budget collection task at the highest level.
