After 3 years of waiting, the 2025 American Music Awards (AMAs) have made a spectacular return to the US city of Las Vegas.
The highlight of this year's event was none other than musical phenomenon Billie Eilish, who made history with an absolute victory by sweeping 7 awards, including the most prestigious title - "artist of the year."
Held at the luxurious Fontainebleau Las Vegas Hotel and broadcast live on CBS, the 2025 AMAs delivered a lavish, vibrant and emotional musical feast. The event was a tribute to the artists voted for by the audience, demonstrating the powerful influence of the fan community.
At 23, Billie Eilish has written an impressive new chapter in her music career.
With her third album “Hit Me Hard and Soft” released in May 2024, Eilish not only won the “Album of the Year” award but also won all 7 categories in which she was nominated.
In a thank you video sent from Europe - where she is busy on tour - Eilish emotionally shared: "It's unbelievable and I don't know what to say. I wish I could be there tonight."
Along with Billie Eilish, many other talents were also honored. Young singer Gracie Abrams, with the hit "That's So True," was named in the category "New Artist of the Year."
From Asia, BTS' RM took home the award for "Favorite K-pop Artist." This is the first time he has won an individual award at the AMAs since the K-pop category was created in 2022, continuing BTS' impressive winning streak, which saw the group win consecutively from 2018 to 2022.
Notably, although she did not attend, singer Beyoncé still surprised everyone by winning two important awards in the country music category: "Favorite Female Country Artist" and "Favorite Country Album" with the album "Cowboy Carter."
Post Malone was also honored as “Favorite Male Country Artist” - a big surprise at this year's awards ceremony.
Meanwhile, Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar - the most nominated names, were absent from the ceremony. Despite having 10 nominations, Lamar only took home one award for "Favorite Hip-Hop Song" with "Not Like Us."
The AMAs were made even more emotional with awards honoring music icons.
Janet Jackson received the “Icon for Global Contributions” award. On stage, she humbly shared: “I don't consider myself an icon. What I hope is to be an inspiration for others to dare to dream and reach for success."
80-year-old singer Rod Stewart was presented with the “Lifetime Achievement Award,” closing the ceremony with a lively performance of “Forever Young.” He confided: “When I started my career, I just wanted to sing. I didn't care about fame or wealth."
Established in 1974, the AMAs are one of the three biggest music awards in the United States, alongside the Grammys and the Billboard Music Awards. After being suspended in 2022, the show has officially returned this year, marking an important milestone in the music industry.
From the explosion of Billie Eilish, the rise of young talents like Gracie Abrams and RM, to moments of gratitude to music legends - the 2025 AMAs awards ceremony is not only a place to honor achievements, but also a place where musical emotions are sublimated and spread, promising a bright future for the global music industry./.
