iOS 18 promises to be a very worthwhile upgrade for iPhone 15 Pro Max users, boosting performance and bringing a host of useful new features.

According to aggregated data from Geekbench 6, the hardware performance of the iPhone 15 Pro Max has significantly improved compared to its predecessor. However, now that the iPhone 15 Pro Max has been upgraded to iOS 18, the benchmark results for this flagship phone show incredible performance.

Although it's only a beta version, iOS 18 has brought significant improvements to the Neural Engine (the iPhone's AI processor), making the iPhone 15 Pro Max even faster.

According to results revealed in an INIYSA post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the iPhone 15 Pro Max scored significantly higher on iOS 18 compared to iOS 17.

The Geekbench benchmark score for the Core ML Neural Engine Inference Score of the iPhone 15 Pro Max running iOS 17.5.1 was just over 6,000. However, with iOS 18, the iPhone 15 Pro Max achieved 7,816 points – 25% faster than iOS 17. It's worth noting that iOS 18 is still in beta.

According to the same source, the results were even more impressive in various text classification tests on Geekbench. Specifically, when the iPhone 15 Pro Max updated to iOS 18, it improved some results by more than 1,000%.

Although benchmark scores are simply reference numbers and don't accurately reflect the real-world daily smartphone experiences of users, they still demonstrate that iOS 18 is optimizing the iPhone's Neural Engine more than iOS 17.

However, AppleInsider advises users against upgrading to the iOS 18 beta unless they need it for software development or have a spare iPhone.

According to Apple, iPhone users can now download the iOS 18 beta to experience the new features. However, Apple also advises backing up data in case the version is unstable. The iOS 18 operating system will be officially released to the general public this fall.
