Nguyen Hoang Bridge, which crosses the Huong River connecting Phu Xuan and Thuan Hoa districts, is currently being urgently completed by the contractor to open to traffic on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Hue City, March 26.
With an investment of more than 2,280 billion VND, Nguyen Hoang Bridge, part of the overpass project across the Huong River and the expanded Nguyen Hoang Street, has now been basically completed.
The bridge is designed as a steel arch 380 m long, starting on Nguyen Hoang Street in Kim Long Ward, Phu Xuan District, ending on Bui Thi Xuan Street in Duc Ward, Thuan Hoa District. The bridge structure is made of reinforced concrete, with a minimum navigation capacity of 30 m wide and 6 m high.
To build the bridge, the investor organized three design competitions. The design of an arch bridge with cable protection tubes decorated with the historical theme of Hue by the consortium of WSP Finland Co., Ltd. and E&R Engineering Consulting Joint Stock Company was selected.
The bridge is 43 m wide, with 6 lanes and a 3 m wide pedestrian lane. The steel arch frame, over 20 m high, located in the middle of the bridge, painted yellow, is the highlight of the project.
According to the reporter's records, the construction unit has currently paved the bridge surface with asphalt, laid red bricks on the walkway, and installed a railing and lighting system.
Underground cable and electrical systems have been installed by the contractor.
There are paths for cyclists and pedestrians on both sides of the bridge. The walkway branches down to the park on both sides of the river with 4 curved branch bridges.
Workers are completing major components of the bridge to open to traffic on March 26.
At the roundabout area in Duc Ward, Thuan Hoa District, the site clearance and relocation of residents have been completed. The contractor has paved the road, connecting it to Bui Thi Xuan Street.
On the north bank, the area connecting Nguyen Hoang bridge with Nguyen Hoang and Kim Long streets is being constructed and paved by the contractor.
To build Nguyen Hoang Bridge, the authorities had to reclaim more than 35,000 square meters of land from 130 households in Kim Long and Duc wards. The households will be resettled in the Bau Va 3 and Lich Doi planning areas.
The bridge, when put into use, will contribute to completing the traffic network, preventing congestion, reducing traffic on National Highway 1 and routes through the center of Thuan Hoa and Phu Xuan districts. At the same time, the project will also help form and develop satellite cities, new urban areas in the west, develop socio-economy , tourism services, and improve people's lives.
