Although songs about Uncle Ho have been deeply exploited by previous generations of musicians with immortal works, with creativity and enthusiasm, young musicians today are still continuing to promote the power of music to maintain and strongly spread the image of Uncle Ho in the hearts of the public, especially young audiences.
On the occasion of the 112th anniversary of Uncle Ho's departure to find a way to save the country, musician Kien Ninh recreated his journey through music through the song "The Man Who Finds the Shape of the Country", set to music from the poem of the same name by poet Che Lan Vien. The author himself spent nearly three years carefully selecting good words and "valuable" images of the poem to put into the lyrics of the song. The musician successfully combined modern music with folk materials to express the image of Uncle Ho with a melody that is both lyrical and heroic.
He shared that the biggest difficulty when composing about Uncle Ho is how to find a new image that does not overlap with what has been exploited by previous generations. It is his creativity and passion for this topic that has helped him overcome these challenges. With a new and youthful arrangement style, the musician hopes that his songs can convey the message about Uncle Ho to young audiences in a close and easy-to-understand way.
Also aiming to portray the great contributions and sacrifices for the nation of President Ho Chi Minh through music, on April 27, the Oplus music group introduced to the public the song "You are the light" in the revolutionary music renewal project called "#VN1945", bringing a new breeze to songs about Uncle Ho.
Artist Quang Minh, the group leader, said that writing about Uncle Ho was a big challenge, because this is a topic that is not easily accessible to the younger generation. The group chose to express the image of Uncle Ho through a fresh perspective, using modern instruments combined with a rock style to help the song feel strong and lively but still contain passionate and respectful feelings.
In addition to musician Kien Ninh or the Oplus group, there are many other young musicians who are passionate about the topic of President Ho Chi Minh, such as musicians Ho Trong Tuan, An Hieu, Ta Duy Tuan or Vo The Hung, Le Anh Tu, ... who have been contributing to renewing the image of Uncle Ho through contemporary music genres. Not limited to traditional musical materials or marching melodies, but finding ways to connect genuine emotions with new techniques, modern music genres such as pop, rock, ballad, contemporary folk ... combined with the application of performance technology to create an effect that attracts audiences.
A good sign is that new songs written about Uncle Ho are receiving positive reception from young audiences. As a person who regularly takes on the role of producer and music director for many large programs, musician Kien Ninh realizes that new high-quality works written about Uncle Ho are always warmly received by today's audiences. Songs with a youthful, modern style make political programs more attractive and lively.
Similarly, the Oplus group was also surprised when the product “Nguoi la anh su” (You are the light) received many positive responses from experts, the media and the public upon its release. Artist Quang Minh expressed: “We are very happy that the song is loved. And we are also proud to have contributed to spreading it, proving that this is a good way to help the younger generation easily access and feel more deeply about the beloved leader.”
Writing about Uncle Ho in the new era is not only to express love and respect for Uncle Ho, but today's musicians focus on authenticity and personalization when building his image. From individual efforts to creative resonance, it shows that musical styles can change with the times, but the affection for President Ho Chi Minh remains intact in the hearts of every Vietnamese person.
The youthful and modern melodies and performances still contain love, gratitude and the desire to preserve the spiritual values that Uncle Ho left behind. And through that, the image of Uncle Ho always accompanies the nation, inspiring the generations of today and tomorrow.
