On the morning of April 30, coach Arteta's team was defeated 0-1 by PSG at home at Emirates Stadium in the first leg of the 2024-2025 Champions League semi-finals.
The only goal was scored by Dembele in the 4th minute. The Gunners could have lost more if PSG had taken advantage of their chances. The British press commented that Coach Arteta's team deserved to lose more with the performance they showed.
Speaking after the match, manager Mikel Arteta called on Arsenal players to "do something special in Paris" after losing the first leg.
"I don't know what the percentage is. But we have a very good chance to be in that final.
We have to go to Paris and win and we are absolutely capable of doing that,” said the Arsenal manager.
He added: "I think we need to play better. We know that the game is not too different.
If you want to win the Champions League, you have to do something special. And now we have to do something special in Paris."
He also revealed that he made a few tactical adjustments after about 20 minutes of the match, helping to regain control of the game after PSG's dominant opening period.
Meanwhile, coach Luis Enrique warned his players not to be complacent. He expressed satisfaction with the victory. At the same time, he promised that there would be more work to do and "endurance" next week.
"Today's mission is complete but with Arsenal, we cannot let our guard down. We cannot be complacent. Nothing is certain because we are facing a team that has nothing to lose," said the PSG coach.
