"The Vietnamese team played very well against Nam Dinh . The new players have a better understanding of coach Kim Sang-sik's tactics. The whole team is in a good mood heading into the match against India," striker Nguyen Van Toan shared before the afternoon training session on October 10.
After a 3-2 victory over Nam Dinh in an internal practice match, the Vietnamese team returned to the training ground to prepare for the match against India, taking place at Thien Truong Stadium on October 12.
Striker Van Toan confirmed that coach Kim Sang-sik had a tactical meeting to learn from the players' shortcomings. However, the Korean strategist did not mention too much about technical skills.

"After every game, we usually discuss the notable situations, such as which plays were good, which plays were not good, and if they were not good, what needs to be changed. There is nothing too special. Today, the whole team met to share what happened. Learning from experience is very important. We will try to improve.
Coach Kim Sang-sik does not remind much about technical skills, but lets the players play comfortably and show their best. The Vietnamese team has both old and new players, so the coach wants to prioritize letting the players share and integrate well with each other," Van Toan emphasized.
Including the match against Nam Dinh, the Vietnamese team has played 5 matches under coach Kim Sang-sik with a record of 2 wins and 3 losses. In the training session last September, Vietnam lost both matches against Russia (0-3) and Thailand (1-2). The reason for the defeat was explained by Mr. Kim as the players had not reached their peak form, because they were in the middle of the season break.
In this training session, most of the national players have played 3 to 4 matches for their clubs. In particular, players from Hanoi Police Club and Thanh Hoa Club such as Nguyen Filip, Quang Hai, and Thai Son still have to play 2 more matches in the Southeast Asian Club Championship.

"After the V-League started, the players had a period of training and competing at the club, so their physical condition and fitness were better than in the previous training session. Meanwhile, in the last session, the players were in a resting period, so they were not flexible. In the match against India, the Vietnamese team will adapt better," Van Toan commented.
The striker born in 1996 also highly appreciated young talent Bui Vi Hao - who scored twice against Nam Dinh in the match on the afternoon of October 9, helping the Vietnamese team successfully reverse the score.
"Scoring for the Vietnamese team will help the players gain more confidence. Vi Hao has been an excellent player in recent times. His double against Nam Dinh will help him gain confidence in the upcoming journey. I believe that in the future, Vi Hao will be a key player for the Vietnamese team," the 28-year-old player emphasized.
Van Toan also hopes that the audience will come to fill Thien Truong Stadium in the match between Vietnam and India on October 12: "After playing for Nam Dinh Club, my impression is that the fans are very enthusiastic. In the next match, I hope the fans will come and support the Vietnam team."
