After the 1-1 draw with the Indian national team, Van Quyet suddenly said goodbye to the Vietnamese national team. He said: “Van Quyet wants to participate in major tournaments with the national team because his spirit and determination are still high, but his physical condition is not yet up to par. Quyet hopes that this is the last time he wears the national team jersey. Quyet will say goodbye to the national team. Quyet hopes that the team will be better and will achieve good results in the future.”

Speaking more clearly about the reason for leaving the national team, Van Quyet said: "Quyet wants to play, but I think now is the time for young players, Quyet will always accompany Vietnamese football in any position. I have played for the past 19 years, from the U-team to the national team, I hope the team will grow stronger."

Responding to Van Quyet's retirement from the Vietnam national team, coach Kim Sang Sik said: "Van Quyet shared with me his retirement plan. He did not play the entire match, but I know the fans respect Quyet very much. He played well and I want to thank him for his dedication to the Vietnam national team."

The Korean strategist added: “I talked to Van Quyet before the match. He talked about his plan to stop playing. I called Van Quyet up to the national team this time because the team is lacking a striker. I also called Vi Hao to test with Tien Linh. I believe he will be a good player for the Vietnam national team in the future.”

Commenting on the 1-1 draw, coach Kim Sang Sik said: “I was quite satisfied with the first half. Despite conceding a goal in the second half, the players still tried their best until the last minute. In the second half, I wanted to give more opportunities to the reserve players. They had quite good performances. We are actually still considering many things for the 2024 ASEAN Cup.”
