Coach Mai Duc Chung is confident he will defeat the Thai women's team.

(Dan Tri) - During the training session right before the third-place match with the Thai women's team, coach Mai Duc Chung expressed that the Vietnamese women's team is aiming for victory against the team from the Land of the Golden Pagoda.

The training session of the Vietnamese women's football team took place on the evening of August 18. This was the last training session of the Vietnamese women's team, before competing in the third-place match of the 2025 Southeast Asian Championship, against the Thai women's team at 4:30 p.m. on August 19.

Before this training session, coach Mai Duc Chung expressed: “In the recent semi-final match against U23 Australia, the Vietnamese women's football team tried their best, but the opponent was too strong. Although we played better in the second half, football is sometimes cruel like that.”

“The Vietnamese women’s football team still has a third-place match ahead. I have reminded the players to practice seriously for the upcoming match. We will fight with the highest spirit,” added coach Mai Duc Chung.

In the third-place match, the Vietnamese women's football team will meet Thailand again, the opponent we defeated 1-0 in the group stage. This is the premise for coach Mai Duc Chung to hope for another good result for the home team.

Speaking about the upcoming match, Coach Mai Duc Chung shared: “The Vietnamese women’s football team is trying to learn from the mistakes of past matches. I have pointed out the strengths and weaknesses of my players.”

“I hope that in the third-place match, my players will limit their mistakes. I hope the Vietnamese women's football team will defeat the Thai women's team once again,” coach Mai Duc Chung expressed his hope.

The third-place match of the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Football Championship will take place at 4:30 p.m. on August 19 at Lach Tray Stadium ( Hai Phong ).
