The friendly match between Indonesia and Iran is the team's final preparation before participating in the 2023 Asian Cup which begins (January 12). The match took place last night (January 9), at the Al Rayyan training ground, Qatar, with Iran winning 5-0 against Indonesia.
After the match, Shin Tae Yong spoke about some things his team must evaluate before the 2023 Asian Cup takes place.

Shin Tae Yong said: "We will definitely control the ball from the back in the future. We will practice so that we can counterattack and the players can create good chances."
"If you look at the result of the match, it's really disappointing, but the players tried very hard. If you look at the progress of the match, everything went well, there were no problems."
In this match, Iran took a 1-0 lead after 3 minutes of the match. Iran's next goals came in the 21st and 35th minutes, ending the first half with Iran leading 3-0. From the 35th minute, Iran played with 10 men because a player was injured and had to leave the field for medical treatment.
Iran coach Amir Ghalenoei is believed to have deliberately left his team playing with 10 players on the pitch in the final minutes of the first half by failing to bring in a substitute for an injured player who required medical treatment on the sidelines.
In the second half, Iran continued to show superiority, coach Amir Ghalenoei's team scored two more goals in the 71st and 87th minutes, thereby winning the match with a final score of 5-0.
Coach Shin Tae Yong admitted that Indonesia's defense made many mistakes, which made it easy for Iran to score. The Korean strategist said: "Indeed, our defense made some mistakes. Moreover, the three goals we conceded were all our own fault."

The Indonesian team lost all three friendly matches before the Asian Cup, they lost 0-4, 1-2 to Libya (2 matches) and lost 0-5 to Iran. The poor results of the friendly matches will increase the pressure on Shin Tae Yong and his team as the reaction of the fans of the archipelago is increasing.
At the 2023 Asian Cup, Indonesia is in Group D with Japan, Iraq and Vietnam. Indonesia will play Iraq on January 15, then Vietnam on January 19 and finally Japan on January 24.
