Speaking at the opening of the conference, Dr. Nguyen Manh Hung, Vice President of the University of Transport Technology, said: The University of Transport Technology is the unit assigned to host the Transport Technology Village under the National Innovation and Startup Festival (Techfest). On that basis, the University was assigned by the Office of National Science and Technology Programs to connect resources to attract individuals and organizations to participate in supporting innovative startups in the field of transport.

Dr. Nguyen Manh Hung emphasized that today's conference focuses on the specialized field in the transportation industry on management and operation of road transport business activities using digital technology . Through the conference, the School hopes to be a bridge for managers, organizations, investors, technology enterprises, startups, experts, and scientists to cooperate towards the goal of improving productivity, quality, and efficiency of automobile transport business services.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Tien, Deputy Director of the Department of Science - Technology and Environment ( Ministry of Transport ) said: The fourth industrial revolution is taking place rapidly. One of the viewpoints of the strategy for developing science, technology and innovation from now until 2030 and vision to 2045 is to develop an innovation ecosystem based on enterprises as the center, research institutes and universities as strong research entities. The application of digital technology and information technology in the management and operation of transport activities is extremely important and is being actively applied.

Mr. Do Cong Thuy, Deputy Head of Vehicle and Driver Management Department, Vietnam Road Administration informed that the total number of passenger transport vehicles is currently 324,467. Of which, fixed route vehicles have 18,022 vehicles, accounting for 6%; buses have 9,536 vehicles, accounting for 3%; taxis have 64,527 vehicles, accounting for 20%; contract vehicles have 228,738 vehicles, accounting for 70%; tourist vehicles have 3,644 vehicles, accounting for 1%.

Mr. Do Cong Thuy assessed that the implementation of digital technology applications in the transport sector is currently facing some difficulties due to the low awareness of comprehensive and extensive digital transformation in some agencies and units. New information technology applications only meet individual business requirements, lack connectivity; shared database platforms have not been formed and business databases have not been standardized to serve data sharing and decision support.

The application of information technology to serve specialized management work is still limited and has not been built according to regulations in some legal documents. Human resources for technology application in transport business units and state management agencies are still lacking and weak. Most information technology applications still face difficulties in terms of funding for investment, construction, maintenance and operation.

Mr. Do Cong Thuy proposed to form a shared database including transport business units, vehicles, business types, validity of badges, signs, etc. Provide online monitoring tools on digital maps of all vehicles nationwide in real time (view all information related to any vehicle operating on the road). Apply technological solutions to determine the number of speeding violations, determine violations of continuous driving time, and the working time of drivers during the day. Technological solutions to control data transmission from journey monitoring devices, cameras installed on vehicles, etc.

At the conference, delegates also presented papers on digital transformation in passenger and freight transport; trends in applying technology to control means of transport; solutions to connect technology enterprises - state management - transport businesses...
