Giving "fishing rods" to poor women
The family of Ms. Ho Thi Dieu (Phu My village, Viet An commune) is classified as a poor household; Ms. Dieu herself has poor health, and all the burden of earning a living falls on her husband. Given this situation, the Women's Union of Thang Phuoc commune promptly provided support by building a charitable house and sponsoring her two children. Recently, the Women's Union of Viet An commune donated two breeding sows to the family to develop their economy and work towards sustainable poverty alleviation.
Similarly, the family of Ms. Vo Thi Tu (An Trang village, Viet An commune) is classified as a poor household. For many years, she has worked alone as a laborer, saving every penny to raise her granddaughter, who is in the 4th grade. To provide practical support, the Women's Union of Viet An commune provided her with 50 chicks to help stabilize her livelihood.
These are two of the 10 cases of impoverished women who have received livelihood support from the Women's Union of the commune recently. Specifically, the union provided 14 piglets to 7 households and 150 chicks to 3 households, with a total cost of 20 million VND from fundraising and union funds.

In Tra My commune, support for women's economic development has also been effectively implemented. For example, Ms. Tran Thi Hoa (Trung Thi village), facing difficult circumstances, earns a living by selling green tea and boiled water at the North Tra My Regional Health Center. Every day, she boils the water and walks around to sell it; the work is arduous but the income is low. Recognizing her difficulties, the Tra My Women's Union donated a bicycle and boiling equipment to make her work less strenuous.
Previously, the association donated 30 breeding chickens to Ms. Nguyen Xuan Tien (Tran Duong village) to help her develop her economy.
According to Vo Thi Hong Que, Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Tra My commune, the union has implemented many practical social welfare activities since the beginning of the year. These include supporting four orphans with 600,000 VND each quarter; organizing 130 free meals to support needy patients; giving 214 gifts to people; and donating 150 traditional Vietnamese dresses (áo dài) to members with special circumstances.
In the coming period, the association will continue to promote activities to care for disadvantaged women and children, contributing to the overall implementation of social welfare work in the area.
Practical effectiveness
Ms. Dinh Thi Kim Thanh (Dien Ban Dong ward) is a single mother who works as a construction laborer to support her two young children's education. For many years, her family lived in a dilapidated house without a toilet, causing inconvenience, especially during the rainy season. In response to this situation, the Dien Ban Dong Ward Women's Union mobilized resources to provide 80 million VND to rebuild her house.

After completion, the house had its corrugated iron roof replaced, a toilet and kitchen added, a canopy installed, and was repainted, providing the family with a stable life, allowing them to work with peace of mind and take care of their children.
Ms. Thanh shared: “Our dream of having a sturdy house has now come true. My family no longer worries whenever there are storms. I am very grateful for the care and assistance from the Women's Union of the ward.”
Meaningful activities are not limited to the grassroots level; they are being implemented widely. In mid-April 2025, the Da Nang City Women's Union organized the "Accompanying Women in Border Areas" program in the communes of La Deee, La Ee, Dac Pring, and Thanh My. Accordingly, the union donated 120 gift packages to members, women, and students in difficult circumstances.
In addition, many meaningful projects have been implemented, such as: building a "Green - Clean - Beautiful - Bright Border Road" worth 80 million VND in La Dêê commune; donating a clean water filtration system worth 50 million VND to the kindergarten in Đắc Pring commune; supporting the construction of a "House of Love" worth 50 million VND for poor members in La Êê commune… These activities contribute to improving living conditions, creating motivation for women in border areas to rise up, and gradually reduce poverty sustainably.
Ms. Hoang Thi Thu Huong, President of the Da Nang City Women's Union, said that the movement "Each member performs a beautiful gesture, each organization carries out a meaningful action" has become widespread, creating a strong ripple effect at all levels of the union. Through this movement, many women and children in difficult circumstances have received support for their livelihoods, job creation, housing construction, and sponsorship, thereby having the opportunity to overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives.
In the coming period, the association will direct its branches at all levels to strengthen social welfare activities, replicate effective models, and mobilize social resources to better care for vulnerable women and children.
This contributes to affirming the role of the women's association in supporting women and building the image of Da Nang women as humane, responsible, and compassionate.
