Painter Ngo Dong revealed that the land that has influenced him the most is Saigon - Ho Chi Minh City: "Saigon is a great destiny, a homeland, and has given me the most beloved things. Wherever I go, I only want to return to Saigon, and I still want to paint about Saigon. The first time I went out, I felt the most peaceful
After more than 40 years of being attached to the Southern land, this is the artist's first solo exhibition. There may be many special reasons, but in the end, the key certainly lies in the artist's fastidiousness when facing the strict demands of the profession.
Painter Ngo Dong Born in 1954 in Nam Dinh
He studied fine arts at Ho Chi Minh City University of Fine Arts from 1975 to 1983 and has been associated with Ho Chi Minh City until now.

Recalling the Vietnamese fine arts scene before the economic opening, artist Ngo Dong said that it was very difficult at that time. "Thanks to the introduction, we also received a series of famous copied paintings. At first, it was fun to copy paintings because we were always exposed to famous paintings, but after copying paintings for a long time, I felt sad because I still felt that they were not my paintings. My dream was still to sit and paint. Since 2006, my family and children have been relatively stable, so I have completely withdrawn to sit at home and paint. This exhibition is the result of the entire painting process from 2007 until now," artist Ngo Dong confided.
Recalling his youth, artist Ngo Dong recalled: "In 1971, I entered Nam Dinh Architecture School but still dreamed of studying fine arts. I had such a burning desire, but the dream of passing Yet Kieu Fine Arts School (Vietnam University of Fine Arts) seemed too far away. At that time, the country was still facing a long war. In 1972, I joined the army, then went to B. In the war zone, thanks to studying painting with teacher Dinh Ru, the unit still considered Ngo Dong an artist," he said.
After a long pause, artist Ngo Dong continued: "At that time, I received a letter from an acquaintance. We knew each other because we both studied art in the jungle and when peace was restored, he joined the army and was studying at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Fine Arts. After reading his letter, I immediately went to the unit's command to ask to go to school, but sadly, I was refused. After many tears and begging, the unit finally agreed to let me go to school. Even happier was that I received my full salary and rice."
