Tuition fees and admission methods of Foreign Trade University in 2023

Foreign Trade University has increased tuition fees for most training programs, the increase ranges from 5-10 million VND per year, applied from the next school year.

According to the admission announcement published on May 9, Foreign Trade University said that the expected tuition fee for the 2023-2024 school year for the general program is 25 million VND, and for the high-quality, career-oriented, and international development program is 45 million VND per year, both an increase of 5 million VND compared to the present.

Tuition for the advanced program is expected to be 70 million VND per year, an increase of 10 million; while the Hotel Management, Digital Marketing, Digital Business, and Integrated Marketing Communications programs remain at 60 million VND.

Previously, at the request of the Government , Foreign Trade University did not increase tuition fees in 2022 but still applied the collection rate from 2021. The school said that in the coming years, tuition fees will be adjusted by a maximum of 10%.

This year, Foreign Trade University will enroll 4,100 students for its three campuses in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Quang Ninh , a slight increase compared to 4,050 in 2022.

Six admission methods are kept stable. First, the school considers high school transcripts if students belong to one of three groups: participating in national science and technology competitions for excellent students; winning third prize or higher in city-level excellent student competitions; or being students of specialized schools.

Two admission methods using international certificates are admission combining foreign language certificates and academic records or standardized test scores of SAT, ACT, A-Level; Admission combining foreign language certificates and high school graduation exam scores.

The fourth method is to consider the 2023 competency assessment scores of two national universities for a number of standard programs in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. The threshold score for receiving application documents is 850/1,200 for candidates applying from the exam of Ho Chi Minh City National University, and 100/150 for candidates using the competency assessment scores of Hanoi National University.

Foreign Trade University has 3,146 quotas for these four methods. Candidates can register their wishes from May 22 to 31.

The fifth method is to consider admission based on high school graduation exam results, with 839 quotas, equivalent to 20%. The time for considering this method is according to the general plan of the Ministry of Education and Training, expected from July 10 to July 30.

Finally, Foreign Trade University reserved 115 quotas for direct admission according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, receiving applications from May 22 to 30.

In addition to the six methods above, the International Development Orientation and International Political Economy programs will recruit students separately, considering the average score of 5 high school semesters (except for the second semester of grade 12) and international language certificates or national English awards. Each province or city can nominate up to 5 candidates, including at least two students from specialized and non-specialized schools graduating this year. These students must commit to returning to the province or city to work after graduation.

In 2022, the highest benchmark score from the high school graduation exam of Foreign Trade University is 28.4 with the A00 combination (Math, Physics, Chemistry) in the Economics and International Economics groups at the Hanoi headquarters. The remaining majors also take no less than 27.5 points. For the remaining combinations, the benchmark score is 0.5 lower than this threshold.

English, French, Chinese, and Japanese majors are admitted using the D01 combination (Math, Literature, English) with scores from 35 to 36.6 on a scale of 40, with English multiplied by a factor of two. The standard score for admission to these majors using other combinations is 1 point lower.
