Projects with great aspirations in Hai Phong

2 century works

For long-time residents of the North Cam River Urban Area, witnessing the inauguration of two key projects of Hai Phong : the City's Political - Administrative Center and the City's Conference - Performance Center, on the occasion of Hai Phong's 70th anniversary of the City's Liberation Day (May 13, 1955 - May 13, 2025) is truly magical and full of pride. Because, before that, this place was just empty land, overgrown with grass. Ms. Nguyen Thi Nga, in Tan Duong 4 Residential Group (Thuy Nguyen Ward) excitedly said that she was proud and moved to witness with her own eyes the "change of skin, change of flesh" every day of her hometown.

These are also two century-old projects, demonstrating the strong aspirations of the Party Committee, government and people of the Port City, among the 12 projects and works that were started and inaugurated on the occasion of the above-mentioned anniversary. Of which, the City Political - Administrative Center Project in the new urban area North of Cam River has a total adjusted investment (for the second time) of more than 2.8 trillion VND.

With a prime location and strategic vision, located between Hai Phong city (old) and Hai Duong province (old), the East borders the central urban area of Hai Phong, making the most of modern infrastructure and large industrial zones. The West connects directly to Hai Duong (old), helping to maintain the connection between the two old central areas. The North borders Quang Ninh, with the potential to expand and link the region with one of the localities with the strongest economy in the North. The South is located near the core urban area of Hai Phong, both maintaining the connection with the seaport and reducing the pressure on urban overload. The City Convention - Performance Center Project is a multi-purpose project, qualified to organize large-scale events such as international conferences, seminars and art performances, with a total investment adjusted (2nd time) of more than 2.5 trillion VND.

Since its inauguration, the City Political - Administrative Center has been the headquarters of Party, government, Fatherland Front, and socio-political organizations of both the East and West regions of Hai Phong with thousands of cadres and employees.

The successful organization of the 3rd Meeting of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC3) and a series of related events at the City Convention and Performance Center last July affirmed the city's capacity to organize international-scale events. As Mr. Tran Van Quan, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, assessed, this is a strategic stepping stone, creating a solid foundation for Hai Phong to organize larger international events in the future.

Strategic projects

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2), the Government decided to organize a particularly important political event. That is the online groundbreaking and inauguration ceremony of about 250 works and projects at 80 points across the country (directly combined with online access to all works and projects) on August 19.

In harmony with the jubilant and excited atmosphere of the whole country, Hai Phong selected 9 works and projects in the city to organize groundbreaking and inauguration. Of which, there are 3 bridges connecting directly with the main bridge of the Government: Inauguration of the May Chai Bridge Project and the access roads on both sides of the bridge; groundbreaking of the T2 Passenger Terminal Project - Cat Bi International Airport; groundbreaking of the Resettlement Area Construction Project of the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong Railway Project.

May Chai Bridge and the roads on both sides of the bridge belong to the Vu Yen Island Amusement, Recreation, Housing and Ecological Park Project. The project stands out with two unique bridge towers leaning towards the river, creating a curved arch like a door welcoming international visitors and sending off ships to the world. The project contributes to shorten travel time from Vu Yen island to the city center.

Along with that, the commencement of the T2 Passenger Terminal Project, Cat Bi International Airport is an urgent requirement when the current T1 terminal far exceeds the initial design capacity (2 million passengers/year). This is a strategic step to expand the air transport network, connecting Hai Phong city with other regions across the country. At the same time, the city will be more favorable in attracting investment to develop the local economy, promote logistics development, expand trade, cultural exchange as well as welcome domestic and international tourists...

Speaking at the groundbreaking and inauguration ceremony of the above 9 projects, Comrade Le Ngoc Chau, Chairman of the City People's Committee emphasized: "These projects not only contribute to the completion of transport, aviation, healthcare, cultural and social security infrastructure, but also create new momentum to promote growth, expand urban development space and improve the quality of life of the people of "Cultural Eastern Land - Heroic Port Land".
