On the morning of May 8, Head of the Department of Education and Training of Ba Dinh District (Hanoi) Le Duc Thuan said that, receiving instructions from the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, Ba Dinh District has established a delegation of 2 teachers and 7 students from the following secondary schools: Giang Vo, Hoang Hoa Tham, Thang Long to attend the 2023 International Math Olympiad held in Berlin (Germany) from May 5 to 8. As a result, all 7 students from Ba Dinh District won prizes and achieved high rankings. Including 5 Gold Medals and 2 Silver Medals.
Specifically, 5 Gold Medals went to students: Tran The Phuc, class 7A1, Hoang Hoa Tham Secondary School; Nguyen Thai Duong, class 7A6, Giang Vo Secondary School; Nguyen Tuan Minh, class 7A1, Hoang Hoa Tham Secondary School; Luong Minh Nam and Le Thanh Hai, class 7A6, Giang Vo Secondary School. Two Silver Medals went to students: Nguyen Duc Thuan, class 7A2, Giang Vo Secondary School and Phan Nguyen Mai Trang, class 8A5, Thang Long Secondary School.
The International Mathematical Olympiad is held to support students' interest in Mathematics, creating conditions for developing thinking towards solving complex tasks in the future. The exam has been held in Germany since 2007 for students from European countries. Starting from 2022, the exam will be expanded to all countries in the world in the form of online exams and this is also the first time the exam will be held in Vietnam.
