Vietnamese students won 3 Gold Medals at the 2025 Asian Physics Olympiad

NDO - The Vietnamese national team has 8 students competing in the Asian Physics Olympiad - APhO 2025 and all 8 students won medals. The achievements of Vietnamese students at APhO 2025 are 3 Gold Medals, 3 Silver Medals, 2 Bronze Medals.

On May 11, the Ministry of Education and Training announced the official results of the Vietnamese national team participating in the 2025 Asian Physics Olympiad - APhO held in Saudi Arabia.

Vietnamese students participating brought home 8 medals, with 3 Gold Medals, 3 Silver Medals, and 2 Bronze Medals.

The Gold Medals were awarded to: Nguyen The Quan , 12th grade student, Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, Nghe An Province; Nguyen Cong Vinh , 12th grade student, Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted, Bac Ninh Province; Truong Duc Dung , 12th grade student, High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences , University of Natural Sciences , Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

Silver Medal: Ly Ba Khoi , 12th grade student, High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences, University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi; Tran Le Thien Nhan , 12th grade student, Quoc Hoc Hue High School for Gifted Students, Hue City; Phan Quang Triet , 12th grade student, Phan Boi Chau High School for Gifted Students, Nghe An Province.

Bronze Medal: Tran Trung Hieu , 12th grade student, Quoc Hoc Hue High School for the Gifted, Hue City; Nguyen Ngoc Phuong Anh , 12th grade student, Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, Hanoi City.

The 25th Asian Physics Olympiad was held from May 4 to May 12 in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. This year, 30 delegations from 29 countries and territories with 208 contestants participated.

According to the APhO Olympic regulations, students will take two theoretical and practical exams, each lasting 5 hours. This year's theoretical exam is based on practical and modern applications of Physics such as: The precession of the Earth's axis causing global climate effects; Spin waves related to quantum computers and the Greenhouse effect. The practical exam is based on the electromagnetic induction effect and its application in induction cookers.

The Vietnamese delegation is in the group of 5 countries and territories with the highest achievements: China, South Korea, Taipei (China), Russian Federation, Vietnam.

With 3 Gold Medals, 3 Silver Medals and 2 Bronze Medals, this year's achievements of the Vietnamese team are outstanding compared to the previous year 2024. In 2024, the Vietnamese student team won 8 medals including: 1 Gold Medal, 1 Silver Medal, 6 Bronze Medals.

The APhO 2025 Organizing Committee will hold the Closing and Award Ceremony starting at 3:00 p.m. on May 12 (Saudi Arabia time).
