At the talks, in a friendly atmosphere, the leaders of the two provinces informed about some achievements in the fields of socio-economics, defense and security of Quang Tri and Savannakhet.

At the same time, we believe that the visit and work of the high-ranking delegation of Quang Tri province this time will continue to promote the special friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Laos in general and Quang Tri and Savannakhet provinces in particular.

In order to further strengthen the cooperative relationship, the leaders of the two provinces agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding with many important contents.

Accordingly, the two sides continue to focus on promoting the effective implementation of the contents of the cooperation agreement between the two provinces for the period 2023 - 2025.

The focal agency advises on preparing to evaluate the implementation results, discuss and agree to sign a new phase cooperation agreement (expected 2026-2030), and report to the leaders of each province to direct and promptly resolve difficulties and problems during the implementation process.

Continue to strengthen information and propaganda work for all classes of people, especially the young generation, about the special relationship, traditional friendship, solidarity and cooperation between Vietnam and Laos regarding border regulations, marriage with foreign elements, and no illegal immigration.

Coordinate the fight to defeat all plots and sabotage activities of hostile and reactionary forces; fight against erroneous and hostile viewpoints; deploy solutions to ensure economic security, network security, information security, promptly detect, fight against, and neutralize activities that exploit cyberspace to infiltrate national security. Promote the effectiveness of the model of village-to-village friendship on both sides of the border...

In 2024, the two provinces successfully coordinated to organize the workshop Lao Bao - Densavan Cross-Border Economic Zone: From Idea to Reality. Up to now, Quang Tri province has organized to collect opinions from central ministries and branches and submitted to the Prime Minister on March 27, 2025. After receiving the Prime Minister's opinion, Quang Tri province will organize work and coordinate with Savannakhet province to work with Lao central ministries and branches on the content of the draft agreement to be submitted to the two governments for approval.

The two sides continue to restore and promptly handle damaged and eroded border markers; promote trade of goods, develop border trade, facilitate entry and exit for citizens of the two countries, support people in border areas to travel back and forth, exchange goods, visit relatives and help each other develop the economy, share experiences and good practices to gradually improve the lives of people in border areas.

Quang Tri province continues to support human resource development for Savannakhet province at different levels. In addition, the two provinces encourage cultural, artistic and sports exchanges.

On this occasion, Quang Tri province supported Savannakhet province with 200 million VND to implement social security programs in the area.
