Officials of the Blind Association of Vu Ban district visited and gave gifts to members in difficult circumstances. |
Despite many difficulties, the Association's activities always focus on the grassroots, actively mobilizing the visually impaired to participate in the Association to care for, care for, and help each other, and strive to integrate into the community, eliminating social inferiority. With 124 members, many of whom are in particularly difficult circumstances, the District HNM has studied the conditions, circumstances, and needs of each member's household to propose to the District Social Policy Bank to support loans, helping members develop their economy . In early May 2025, the Provincial HNM Standing Committee added an additional 30 million VND from the National Employment Fund for the District HNM to create conditions for members to borrow capital. The District Association has also coordinated with the District Social Policy Bank to urgently complete the procedures so that the disbursement is carried out quickly, without leaving any backlog of capital. Currently, the district HNM is lending capital to 3 households from the National Employment Fund with a total amount of more than 113 million VND.
Not stopping at providing capital, the district HNM coordinates with the People's Committees of communes and towns to help members who are eligible to complete loan procedures with preferential interest rates according to the State's regulations to develop occupations: massage, acupressure, making bamboo toothpicks, raising livestock and poultry... Although operations face many difficulties, the association's bamboo toothpick production facility still has 10 workers with an average income of about 1.5 million VND/person/month. Many massage and acupressure facilities provide stable jobs for many visually impaired people. A typical example is the massage and acupressure facility of Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Giao in Goi town, with a revenue of about 45-50 million VND/month, creating jobs for 5 workers with an income of 3.5-4 million VND/person/month. Or the pig farming model of Mr. Nguyen Gia Binh in Dai An commune earns about 70 million VND each year, thereby encouraging visually impaired people to overcome their inferiority complex and confidently rise up in life. Mr. Binh said: “I suffered from retinal degeneration which led to complete loss of vision when I was only 25 years old. At first, when I was blind, I was very self-conscious and felt inferior to myself, my family and the community. However, with the encouragement and love of my family and HNM Vu Ban, I was able to regain my confidence, overcome my circumstances and become a useful person to society.”
The Association also regularly propagates and mobilizes members to comply with the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, and local regulations, fulfill their civic duties; care for and help each other spiritually and materially, and strive to integrate into the community. With the goal of gradually improving the knowledge of its members, the District Association Executive Committee has provided and encouraged members to listen to tapes, newspapers, magazines, and specialized documents on various areas of life published by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union. The work of women and visually impaired children has always been focused on and concerned. The Association has organized specialized talks on the founding day of the Women's Union and discussed issues of labor, employment, and family life, helping female members have the confidence to overcome difficulties and integrate into the community. In addition, the Association also coordinates with agencies and units of the district to help 100% of members receive monthly allowances, health insurance cards, and free medical examination and treatment; Borrow preferential loans from the channels of the Social Policy Bank to complete courses from universities and colleges... The Association has proactively proposed to the District Departmentof Education and Training to exempt some school contributions for children of members of school age; regularly review visually impaired children of school age so that they have the opportunity to study culture, learn to read and write, learn a trade... Every year, the District Association mobilizes benefactors to give practical gifts to encourage members, especially those in difficult circumstances.
Not only taking care of material life, supporting job creation, the district HNM also always cares about promoting the art movement, improving the life, encouraging the optimism and confidence of members. Currently, the district Association's art team has 6 members and always maintains activities to serve events organized by the Association. Although there are many shortages in facilities and equipment, the love of art and the desire to assert themselves have helped the members of the art team overcome, bringing songs and voices to encourage other members to rise up in life.
Despite their visual impairment and difficult living and working conditions, the visually impaired in the province in general and in Vu Ban district in particular have tried to overcome difficulties and confidently integrate. In the coming time, Vu Ban HNM will continue to survey, mobilize, and recruit more members; open more literacy classes, find new vocational training, and help some members who are capable of production, developing livestock and farming. The association will also continue to visit and give gifts to members during holidays and Tet; find new sources of support for members who are really in difficulty, so that no one is left behind.
