The workshop was chaired by Politburo member - Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia, Party Central Committee member - President of the Vietnam Women's Union Nguyen Thi Tuyen, Acting Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee - President of the Provincial People's Council Ho Thi Hoang Yen.
Attending the workshop at the main bridge were former Vice Presidents Truong My Hoa and Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh; leaders of Military Region 9 and Military Region 7; leaders of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission; leaders of the Vietnam Women's Union; Communist Magazine, central ministries and branches; leaders of the Central Vietnam Women's Union; Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Tran Thanh Lam; Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Ngoc Tam; departments and branches of Ben Tre province; Women's Unions of provinces and cities; historical witnesses and retired former leaders of the Party and State through the periods.

In her opening speech and introduction to the workshop, Acting Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee - Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council Ho Thi Hoang Yen reviewed the history of the establishment, the contributions of the "Long-haired Army" and the "Three Virtues" movement in the resistance war against the US to save the country and emphasized that it was an honor for Ben Tre province to be the locality chosen by the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union to coordinate in organizing the national scientific workshop with the theme "The role of the "Long-haired Army" and the "Three Virtues" movement in the resistance war against the US to save the country".

This is an opportunity for Ben Tre to welcome delegates to visit and learn more about the land and people of Ben Tre - a heroic land, where there are gentle rivers next to rows of green coconut trees growing tall and strong - a symbol of a land of "spiritual land and talented people" that is resilient and indomitable, creating cultural beauty bearing the typical mark of the land of "three strips of islands", making up the culture and people of Ben Tre: Patriotism, humanity, loyalty, honesty, bravery, self-reliance, self-respect, responsibility, cooperation, creativity... forged over many generations to form the "Ben Tre posture".

But above all, Ben Tre is the place that witnessed unforgettable historical feats. It was here, with the Dong Khoi movement in 1960, that the people of Ben Tre and the women of Ben Tre affirmed their great role in the resistance war against the US, saving the country with the birth, development and activities of the "Long-haired Army" which is unique in the world, as French journalist Madeleine Riffaud, after a trip to the liberated areas of the South in early 1965 wrote: "Indeed, in the South there exists a strange army, without guns, present everywhere, in cities as well as in the countryside, an army that news agencies almost never mention, but which plays a great role in the fight of the people of South Vietnam against the invaders, even before the first guerrillas took up arms. That is the "hair-bun army" that gathers millions of female soldiers".
Speaking at the workshop, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, Politburo member - Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia expressed his gratitude and acknowledged the great contributions of the female heroes of the armed forces, Labor Heroes during the anti-American resistance war, the women, mothers and sisters of the "Long-haired Army" and the "Three Virtuous" movement who participated in making great contributions and sacrifices in the resistance war to protect the independence and freedom of the country.

Today's scientific conference is one of the practical and meaningful activities organized early, towards the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
Based on the purpose and tasks of the workshop, Politburo member - Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia asked delegates to continue to affirm the absolute and direct leadership in all aspects of the Communist Party of Vietnam, which is the decisive factor in all victories of all revolutionary movements, and will forever remain valuable for the cause of building and developing the homeland and country in the new period.
Further promote the role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations and mass organizations in gathering and mobilizing the masses; maintain a close relationship with the people, trust the people, rely on the people and serve the people, promote people's creativity, create high consensus in the whole society, especially mobilize and encourage more and more outstanding individuals to contribute to the cause of national construction and development.

Analyze, interpret, deepen and highlight the great contributions of the "Long-haired Army" and the "Three Responsibilities" movement, thereby drawing lessons from experience and history, synthesizing and using the results of the Workshop to creatively apply in mass mobilization work, women's mobilization work, in the organization and activities of the Vietnam Women's Union at all levels in accordance with the new conditions and context of the revolution.
Not only stopping at pride in the past, but more importantly, we must find a way to make that spirit continue to spread, becoming a driving force to encourage Vietnamese women at home and abroad to turn to the Fatherland, contributing more to the cause of national construction, sustainable development and international integration.

“With the qualities and mettle in the new historical conditions, I believe that Vietnamese women will continue to join hands, unite, strive, and be determined to overcome all difficulties and challenges; continue to promote the tradition of Ba Trung and Ba Trieu, combined with the values of Vietnamese women in the new era “having knowledge, morality, health, responsibility for themselves, their families and society”, to affirm their position, strength, and confidence to enter the new era of the Vietnamese nation”, Politburo member - Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia noted.

The workshop took place in 2 sessions: Session 1: Discussion on the main contents of the workshop: The role of the "Long-haired Army" and the "Three Responsibilities" movement in the resistance war against the US to save the country; Session 2: General discussion on creative solutions to contribute to enhancing education on patriotism, revolutionary traditions and closing the workshop.

At the workshop, Deputy Secretary of Ben Tre Provincial Party Committee Tran Thanh Lam gave a speech on "The process of formation, development and contributions of the "Long-haired Army" in the Ben Tre Dong Khoi Movement and the resistance war against the US to save the country"; Central and local delegates shared some recorded contents about the "Long-haired Army" and the "Three Virtues" movement through press documents during the resistance war against the US to save the country; promoting the tradition of steadfast revolutionary struggle, Ben Tre women actively participated in building the homeland to become more and more beautiful and building Vietnamese women of the new era; the role of the "Three Virtues" movement in ensuring production and logistics for the battlefield and promoting the good tradition of the "Three Virtues" movement in the new era...

In her closing speech at the workshop, Party Central Committee member - President of the Vietnam Women's Union Nguyen Thi Tuyen said that, from the results of the workshop, in order to continue promoting historical strength, inheriting the heroic tradition that the grandmothers, mothers, and sisters of the "Long-haired Army" and the "Three Responsibilities" movement have passed on, and preparing Vietnamese women to be ready to enter a new stage of development of the country, the Women's Union at all levels will continue to promote traditional education for women of all classes, to be aware of their important role in society, to inherit and promote the spirit and indomitable will of previous generations of women to constantly strive to study, improve awareness, qualifications, and skills. Continue to promote the emulation movement "Building Vietnamese women of the new era" to arouse the national spirit, fine traditional values of Vietnamese women, the aspiration to rise up, and contribute more efforts and intelligence to the cause of innovation, construction and protection of the Fatherland.
