Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan delivered the opening speech at the workshop.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan said: With its strategic location, located at the gateway to the Central Highlands, adjacent to the Central Coast and having the East-West corridor connecting with Laos, Cambodia, and Thailand, Gia Lai province not only plays an important role in the national energy map, but also has the potential to become a regional energy connection center. Gia Lai province has both a sunny and windy Central Highlands region and a sunny coastal region with high solar radiation, along with a rich system of waterfalls, rivers, and lakes. This is the foundation for comprehensive development of renewable energy types such as: onshore and offshore wind power, ground-based and floating solar power, hydropower, biomass power, waste-to-energy, and geothermal power.

According to the adjusted Power Plan VIII, the total capacity of renewable energy projects in Gia Lai province has developed to more than 9,600 MW - an impressive number, creating a foundation for Gia Lai to become a clean and sustainable energy center of the region.

The Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee added that, in addition to focusing on developing renewable energy projects, Gia Lai also considers human resource development for this industry as a key factor. On August 20, 2025, the province officially announced the call for investment in the Renewable Energy Human Resource Training and Development Center project on the National Bidding Network. Up to now, the project has approved the results of the invitation for interest from investors to register to implement the project, namely GEO Group (Germany) and O-Door Vietnam Co., Ltd., opening an important step in building a high-quality human resource ecosystem to serve the sustainable development of the province's energy industry.

Up to now, in Gia Lai province, there are 61 hydropower projects with a total capacity of 2,736 MW; 17 wind power projects with a total capacity of 916 MW; 07 solar power projects with a total capacity of 590 MWp and 02 biomass power projects with a total capacity of 130 MW that have come into commercial operation.

“Today's workshop is of great significance. We will exchange, discuss, and find effective solutions to take advantage of opportunities and promote stronger and more sustainable development of the renewable energy sector. Renewable energy development cannot be an individual effort, but requires close cooperation between the government, businesses, financial institutions, research institutes, and the community. Gia Lai province hopes that through this workshop, domestic and foreign businesses and corporations will share experiences, advanced technologies, and propose effective investment solutions. Scientists and experts will contribute scientific and objective opinions, helping the province have a basis for appropriate policy planning,” emphasized Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan.
