In addition to relevant agencies of Quang Tri and Khammouane provinces, the workshop was attended by representatives of relevant central agencies of Vietnam and Laos, international organizations, the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO, domestic and foreign experts, and tourism businesses.
Information at the workshop stated that on July 13, 2025, at the 47th session of the World Heritage Committee, HinNamNo National Park was recognized as a World Natural Heritage, an extended component of the World Natural Heritage Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park.
This is the first transboundary World Natural Heritage in Southeast Asia, the pride of the two countries; and also a shared responsibility in the management, conservation and promotion of heritage values.
The delegation of Quang Tri province congratulated Khammouane province when HinNamNo National Park was recognized as a World Natural Heritage, an extension of the World Natural Heritage Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park on July 13, 2025, at the 47th session of the World Heritage Committee.
The Transboundary Cooperation Framework is one of the tools for good heritage management and the foundation for implementing current and future transboundary cooperation activities. At the first workshop held in Khammouane province, stakeholders identified a common vision and eight management cooperation targets to 2050.
This workshop in Quang Tri province aims to concretize those goals into practical, feasible and sustainable activities in the fields of biodiversity conservation, scientific research, ecotourism development, improving community livelihoods and transboundary heritage management, contributing to preserving and promoting the value of common heritage.
The conference runs until September 19.
