Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung and the Central working delegation inspected the actual construction progress of key projects and works of APEC 2027, such as: Phu Quoc International Airport (runway expansion and VIP terminal), APEC Conference Center, Duong Dong Wastewater Treatment Plant, An Thoi Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Reporting at the working session, Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung said that according to Decision No. 948/QD-TTg dated May 17, 2025 of the Prime Minister, An Giang province is assigned to implement 21 projects to serve the APEC Summit 2027. Of which, there are 10 public investment projects and 11 investment projects under the public-private partnership (PPP) method.
Currently, the projects have completed all procedures, approved the selection of investors and selected construction contractors in accordance with legal regulations. Many bidding packages have been implemented to ensure progress, quality, safety and efficiency.
Of which, 7 projects achieved and exceeded the set schedule, including: (1) Cua Can Lake investment project; (2) Project to build embankments and level the ground for the construction of the APEC Conference Center and functional works; (3) Provincial road project DT.975 (section from DT.973 - Phu Quoc Airport - DT.975 - DT.973); (4) Project to build underground technical infrastructure in An Thoi area; (5) Project to build underground technical infrastructure in Duong Dong area; (6) Investment in technical infrastructure, digital transformation to build a smart monitoring and operating center for comprehensive management of Phu Quoc; (7) Investment project to expand Phu Quoc International Airport.
“The province has increased its forces and directed Phu Quoc special zone to focus on site clearance, proactively remove difficulties and obstacles; and resolve basic raw material sources to meet the needs of key projects. Every week, the construction progress of the projects is inspected. The province is committed to implementing the projects on schedule; seriously and urgently grasping and organizing the implementation of the directions of the Central Government, the Government, the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Ministers” - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung affirmed.
Speaking at the working session, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung stated that, up to now, the works and projects are being implemented on schedule, most of the problems have been resolved, basic procedures have been completed, and a number of projects are being urgently and vigorously constructed on site.
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung highly appreciated the efforts of ministries, branches, An Giang Provincial People's Committee and Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone in removing difficulties and obstacles, completing investment procedures, and performing well the assigned tasks. At the same time, he welcomed and highly appreciated the investors and contractors for their drastic and prompt implementation.
“With a huge amount of work, extremely difficult weather, material, labor, construction and transportation conditions, the projects are being carried out at a fast pace,” Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung assessed.
Regarding the upcoming work, the Deputy Prime Minister especially noted the need to strengthen propaganda to create consensus among the people in site clearance work; select investors with sufficient construction capacity, closely supervise; have sanctions against contractors for slow progress, be determined to achieve and exceed progress, and ensure the quality of the projects...
