Attending and co-chairing the Workshop were: Deputy Chairman of the Finance and Budget Committee Nguyen Van Chi and Deputy Minister of Finance Cao Anh Tuan.
Speaking at the workshop, Chairman of the Finance and Budget Committee Le Quang Manh stated that the current Law on Corporate Income Tax was passed by the 12th National Assembly at the Third Session on June 3, 2008, effective from January 1, 2009 (replacing the 2003 Law on Corporate Income Tax) and has been amended and supplemented three times. After more than 15 years of implementation, the Law on Corporate Income Tax has come into effect, positively affecting many aspects of the country's economy and society and achieving important results.
However, in the process of socio-economic development and international economic integration, the context of globalization is taking place more and more deeply, the development of information technology, new economic models (sharing economy, digital economy, etc.), through the implementation of corporate income tax policies, some shortcomings and limitations have also been revealed. Therefore, according to the law and ordinance development program of the National Assembly , the Law on Corporate Income Tax (amended) will be submitted by the Government to the National Assembly for consideration and comments at the 8th Session (October 2024) and passed at the 9th Session (May 2025).
The Chairman of the Finance and Budget Committee emphasized that the consultation workshop focused on issues related to preferential corporate income tax policies in the draft Law on Corporate Income Tax (amended) to attract investment in the new period. The opinions and experience sharing of agencies, experts, scientists, and domestic and foreign business organizations will be valuable documents, providing necessary information for the review work of the Finance and Budget Committee.
Within the framework of the Workshop, representatives of ministries, branches, agencies, delegates, enterprises, experts and scientists discussed: Preferential policies on corporate income tax in Vietnam and issues to attract domestic and foreign enterprises to invest in production and business in the new period; some challenges and opportunities for Vietnam when reforming corporate income tax; FDI enterprises proposing tax incentives; experiences of some countries applying tax incentives and improving the investment environment...
Based on the opinions of the delegates, the Finance and Budget Committee will carefully study them to serve the review and report to the National Assembly Standing Committee at the September session before reporting to the National Assembly at the October 2024 session.
