There are still more than 9,000 youth volunteers and 544 children and grandchildren of former youth volunteers infected with toxic chemicals who have not yet enjoyed related policies and regimes.
Responding to the movement "Former youth volunteers do good business - For the sake of comradeship", in the past 5 years, the whole country has had nearly 12 thousand production and business establishments of former youth volunteers, contributing to creating jobs for more than 30 thousand workers, most of whom are children and grandchildren of former youth volunteers, with an average monthly income of 5-12 million VND/case.
Speaking at the conference, Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Former Youth Volunteers Vu Trong Kim affirmed that after completing their missions and returning to their localities, youth volunteers still carry the spirit, determination, and tradition on all fronts, continuing to make important contributions to socio-economic development.
The Association has truly maintained and promoted its role as a representative, protecting the legitimate rights and interests of its members, creating an increasingly stronger bond between its members and the Association; helping the Party and State effectively implement policies towards those participating in the resistance war and defending the Fatherland.
On this occasion, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Veterans Association awarded the Vietnam Veterans Association Medal to former members of the Presidium and Honorary Members; announced the decision to commend collectives and individuals for their outstanding achievements in promoting the role of "Historical Witnesses" in participating in resolving regimes and policies for youth volunteers.
