Citing statistics at the conference, Head of the Central Economic Policy and Movement Committee of the Vietnam Veterans Association Nguyen Duc Hong said that over the past 5 years, the Association at all levels across the country has resolved more than 19,000 cases of one-time subsidies, 910 cases of regular subsidies, more than 156,000 cases of health insurance, more than 18,000 cases of death receiving funeral subsidies, 68 cases of sacrifice recognized as martyrs, 211 cases of injury receiving the same regime as war invalids, and more than 1,000 cases of chemical poisoning receiving the regime (including 159 children and grandchildren of former youth volunteers).

However, for many reasons, there are still many unresolved cases. Among them, there are 275 youth volunteers who died but have not been recognized as martyrs, nearly 5,000 youth volunteers who were injured but have not been recognized as war invalids, more than 9,000 youth volunteers and 544 children and grandchildren of former youth volunteers who were exposed to toxic chemicals have not received benefits.

There are still more than 9,000 youth volunteers and 544 children and grandchildren of former youth volunteers infected with toxic chemicals who have not yet enjoyed related policies and regimes.

Responding to the movement "Former youth volunteers do good business - For the sake of comradeship", in the past 5 years, the whole country has had nearly 12 thousand production and business establishments of former youth volunteers, contributing to creating jobs for more than 30 thousand workers, most of whom are children and grandchildren of former youth volunteers, with an average monthly income of 5-12 million VND/case.

Speaking at the conference, Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Former Youth Volunteers Vu Trong Kim affirmed that after completing their missions and returning to their localities, youth volunteers still carry the spirit, determination, and tradition on all fronts, continuing to make important contributions to socio-economic development.

The Association has truly maintained and promoted its role as a representative, protecting the legitimate rights and interests of its members, creating an increasingly stronger bond between its members and the Association; helping the Party and State effectively implement policies towards those participating in the resistance war and defending the Fatherland.

On this occasion, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Veterans Association awarded the Vietnam Veterans Association Medal to former members of the Presidium and Honorary Members; announced the decision to commend collectives and individuals for their outstanding achievements in promoting the role of "Historical Witnesses" in participating in resolving regimes and policies for youth volunteers.
