The cooperative has developed two plans to cope with storms. Proactively drain water to protect crops, reinforce greenhouses and net houses for storms with winds below level 10. In case of storm winds of level 10 or higher, members will remove the membranes and nets to avoid collapsing the house frames, causing great damage.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Them, a member of Tan Minh Duc Cooperative, has 3,500 m2 of greenhouses and net houses growing melons. Faced with the complicated developments of storm No. 3, Ms. Them's family has reinforced the house frame and drained water to protect the plants. With areas of melons that are ready for harvest, the family is urgently harvesting before the storm arrives.
"These past few days, due to the impact of storm No. 3, melon consumption has been slower, and prices have dropped slightly," said Ms. Them.

On the morning of July 21, when the circulation of storm No. 3 began to cause rain, 187 members of Tan Minh Duc Cooperative were harvesting melons, pruning leaves on areas of melons that were not yet ready for harvest, and reinforcing greenhouses and net houses to cope with storm No. 3. This year, the cooperative and its members have been more proactive in storm prevention to avoid severe damage like last year.

Hai Phong City has 120 hectares of greenhouses and net houses. The greenhouse area of Tan Minh Duc Cooperative is more than 50 hectares, equal to 41.6% of the total greenhouse area of the city. Currently, the cooperative has 187 members, specializing in growing netted melons and Korean melons, growing 3 crops per year, bringing high income to its members.
