Huawei & BAIC launch Stelato S9 EREV 2025 with "more affordable" price

Huawei & BAIC's Stelato S9 EREV 2025 has the same design as its EV sibling, but will get an additional 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine.

The new Stelato S9 EREV 2025 sedan was unveiled by Huawei Intelligent Automotive Solution BU CEO Richard Yu, and will reduce the entry price of the model in China. It will start pre-sales soon, aiming to boost Stelato sales.

In addition to introducing the upcoming Stelato S9 EREV , and pre-orders for the model will begin soon in China, Richard Yu also announced that 1 billion yuan (about $138 million) has been invested in the Stelato S9 project, with the aim of upgrading 6 aspects of intelligence and driving range.

According to the video , the Stelato S9 EREV has a similar design to its EV sibling, including sleek glove-shaped LED headlights and large air intakes underneath. There's also a LiDAR sensor located on the roof.

To enhance aerodynamics, the S9 EREV has sleek body lines and hidden door handles. There are also multi-spoke wheels that can be had in two different sizes (20 and 21 inches).

Powering the Stelato S9 EREV is a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine codenamed A156T2H, with an output of 118 kW (158 hp). The single electric motor mounted at the rear has an output of 227 kW (304 hp). The battery capacity of the Stelato S9 EREV has not been disclosed.

The Stelato S9 is a fairly large car, measuring 5,160 mm long, 2,005 mm wide and 1,485 mm high. The wheelbase is 3,050 mm. The introduction of the Stelato S9 EREV is part of Huawei and BAIC's strategy to reduce the entry price of the Stelato S9.

The Stelato S9’s starting price of 399,800 yuan (about $55,240) was its main drawback. As a result, the company sold just 4,688 units between October 2024 and February 2025—a far cry from its target of 120,000 units per year.
