The above information was announced by Huawei at the event on April 20, honoring MetaERP (Heroes of the Battle of the Dadu River) to recognize the efforts of individuals and groups who made important contributions to this project.
Huawei honors the efforts of partners contributing to the MetaERP project.
ERP (enterprise resource planning) is an important IT management system for every enterprise. Huawei introduced MRP II (manufacturing resource planning) system in 1996, then expanded it to ERP system with new features and continuous upgrades.
The predecessor ERP system was the core system that built the foundation supporting Huawei's efficient business operations and rapid growth for more than 20 years. The platform generates hundreds of billions of dollars each year in more than 170 countries and regions around the world .
In 2019, Huawei began to face business challenges and pressure from foreign partners. Therefore, the company decided to develop a fully self-controlled MetaERP system to replace the old ERP system. This is the largest and most complex transformation project Huawei has ever undertaken.
Over the past three years, Huawei has invested significant resources and several thousand people in this project, working with industry partners and the ecosystem to address the challenges involved. The new MetaERP system - future-oriented, large-scale, and cloud-based - has been put into operation smoothly to replace the legacy ERP system.
MetaERP now handles 100% of Huawei's business scenarios and 80% of its business volume. The system has passed monthly, quarterly, and annual billing tests. It also ensures no errors, no delays, and no adjustments from accounting.
“We disconnected from our predecessor ERP system and other core management and operation systems more than three years ago,” said Tao Jingwen, member of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the IT Management Committee. “Since then, Huawei has not only built its own MetaERP, but also transformed its management methods and demonstrated the capabilities of MetaERP. Today, we are proud to announce that we have broken through the siege. We have succeeded!”
Mr. Tao Jingwen spoke at the event.
Huawei has full control over MetaERP, which is synchronously integrated with other Huawei systems such as EulerOS and GaussDB. The company also works with partners to integrate more advanced technologies (cloud-based architecture, metadata-based multi-client architecture, real-time intelligence, etc.) into MetaERP, to significantly improve service efficiency and operation quality.
Huawei's guiding principle is to build the simplest architecture with the best quality, delivering the best experience at the lowest possible cost. Huawei said it will continue to work with partners to build more secure and efficient core business systems for enterprises, including ERP and PLM, without any restrictions.
Ms. Meng Wanzhou, Vice Chairwoman, Rotating Chairwoman and Chief Financial Officer of Huawei also emphasized : "Leaps in technology require the same perfectionist and careful work spirit as experienced craftsmen. More importantly, we need to have an open attitude to promote leaps in the way we shape.
Huawei would not have been able to build MetaERP without the support of its partners. Innovation can only be achieved with an open and prosperous spirit, and can only grow when we work together.”
