SEO in the age of AI: Which statements are correct?
The emergence of numerous AI chatbots like ChatGPT and Gemini has dramatically changed user search behavior. In particular, with the introduction of AI Overviews in May 2025, website traffic has seen a sharp decline: 17.49% for the B2C sector and 6.15% for the B2B sector (according to the report analyzing the impact of AI Overviews on 3000 Vietnamese business websites, SEONGON). This has caused concern within the SEO community regarding future development directions.
In online communities, many opinions suggest that users are gradually abandoning Google Search to find answers on AI platforms. Alongside this, there are also views that SEO will no longer be effective, or that a completely new approach will be needed.
Based on the principle that any sound strategy must be built on real data, analyzed and tested on a sufficiently large scale, SEONGON organized an in-depth webinar: “Search Transformation in the AI Era” - The transformation of search in the AI age.
With researched and tested content, as well as providing insights from real-world data for Vietnamese businesses, the webinar received great interest from the community with over 900 registrations, including senior managers and representatives from leading Vietnamese companies such as FPT, Sun Group , Viettel Telecom, VNPT, Shopee, Vua Nem, Vinfast, etc.
In addition, the webinar “Search Transformation in AI Era” also received positive feedback from the community, with 93.93% satisfied with the program quality and 96.88% expressing a desire to participate in future webinars organized by SEONGON.
Highlights from the program content
The webinar "Search Transformation in the AI Era" spans four parts with a wealth of practical content to help businesses build optimal SEO strategies in the AI era.
SEONGON has indicated that, even with significant growth in ChatGPT by Q2 2025, Google will still maintain a dominant position in the Vietnamese market with approximately 80% market share. To further maintain this position, Google has introduced AI Overviews (AIO) and AI Mode – two key features that will shape future search behavior.
With AIO and improved SERPs, user queries are now about 1.5 times longer and tend to be more question-based. The user journey is no longer linear as before, and conversions can occur anywhere, meaning businesses will find it harder to predict during the planning process.
As for AI Mode, user behavior is similar to ChatGPT or Gemini, including long, complex conversations with multiple contexts. And with features like AI Mode Shopping, Local Search, AI Mode Search, Live Search, etc., users can perform actions efficiently and seamlessly on a single AI Mode interface.
Returning to the AIO feature, in the webinar, SEONGON announced the results of an experiment with over 20 businesses and concluded that content creation accounts for 45% of the impact on a website's likelihood of being cited by AI. This is because Google wants users to quickly get accurate answers and return to using Google. Therefore, websites that provide useful content as good "raw material" for AI synthesis will be prioritized for citation in AIO.
Attendees also received an SEO formula for AIO with 4 key pillars to consider when implementing SEO in the AI era, including: Query Fan-out, semantic content, technical, and brand.
During the webinar, SEONGON also shared insights into the direction of Google and the international SEO community after having the opportunity to directly exchange ideas at the Search Central Live event organized by Google in Thailand. This included redefining the value and opportunities of SEO, the role of branding in the AI era, and the application of AI in SEO production and operations.
The Q&A session at the end of the program was also a highlight, as the organizers received many questions from attendees, revolving around how to optimize content for AI citation, the impact of technical factors, and the role of SEO for businesses in the near future.
The success of the webinar “Search Transformation in the AI Era” affirms SEONGON's pioneering position in updating trends, researching, and experimenting with new methods in Google Marketing, especially SEO in the AI era.
Speaking on behalf of SEONGON, Mr. Nguyen Van Phuc said: “This is just the beginning. In the future, we will launch a series of in-depth events with many other practical topics, helping Vietnamese marketers, SEO leaders, and businesses adapt to the major changes in Google and AI . ”
