Staff from the Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences instruct people in Xuan Van commune (Yen Son) on how to use products to help grapefruit trees recover after floods.
The impact of storm No. 3 has damaged nearly 400 hectares of fruit trees in Yen Son district, especially in riverside communes such as Phuc Ninh, Xuan Van, Luc Hanh, and Chieu Yen. Currently, many areas of flooded grapefruit trees are shedding leaves, dropping fruit, and dying.
At the training session, the delegation of officers from the Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences directly guided people on measures and techniques to restore and care for grapefruit trees such as cleaning the garden, pruning, sprinkling lime powder for disinfection, fertilizing, etc. to ensure the growth of the plants in the following crops. In addition, in cases where the trees are severely damaged, all leaves fall off, and branches die, it is necessary to dig up the dead trees, destroy them, treat the soil and replant.
Through the training session, it helps local people and residents quickly grasp methods and ways to treat and prevent pests and diseases; contributing to the early recovery of grapefruit trees, limiting the impact on fruit yield next year.
