“Vietnam today is strong and moving forward thousands of miles! Our Vietnam should be a heroic song that resounds far, far!”

Those are the lyrics of the song “Glory, oh Vietnam!” which took Professor-Doctor-Labor Hero Nguyen Anh Tri more than 3 years to complete.

On August 29, he officially released the music video (MV) “Glory, Oh Vietnam!”, which gathered more than 30 singers and more than 1,000 extras, filmed continuously for a month in many locations across the country.

Regarding the inspiration for composing the song, author Nguyen Anh Tri said that over the course of 3 years, he wrote many times, even completed several versions, but still did not feel satisfied because it was either too long, or because the melody was not inspiring or proud enough.

“Until one day, the melody 'Glory, Oh Vietnam!' suddenly rang in my head. I hummed the first lines and felt extremely excited, less than 30 minutes later I finished it. The song was written quickly because the emotions had been pent up for a long time and at the right moment, the melody and lyrics popped up,” the author shared.

The song was arranged by musicians Tran Thi Phuong Thao and Dang Manh Cuong; scriptwriter and MV director: Duong Lan Huong; visual director: Meritorious Artist Phung Le Anh Minh, Meritorious Artist Nguyen Tai Van. The performance was attended by more than 30 singers, including Meritorious Artist To Nga, Meritorious Artist Luong Huy, Meritorious Artist Cam Tu, Meritorious Artist Dinh Thanh Le, singers Huyen Trang (Sao Mai), Viet Danh, Le Xuan Hao, Minh Tuan, An Nhi, Nguyen Minh Ngoc... Medlatec choir and Ngoc Trai Viet Children's Club.

Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations , Associate Professor - Doctor Do Hong Quan said that the song has a heroic and exciting melody, short and concise lyrics, easy to understand and remember, encouraging and spreading excitement to the listeners.

The song depicts the image of a united and resilient Vietnam, which is the pride of today. The core message of the song is the national spirit and the aspiration to rise up in every Vietnamese person.

“As early as 1930, musician Dinh Nhu composed the song 'Together we go to the Red Army,' in 1953, musician Do Nhuan composed 'Hanh quan xa,' and in 1975, musician Pham Tuyen composed 'Nhu co Bac trong ngay dai thang' , all of which have short, concise lyrics and a majestic chorus. Today, 'Glory, oh Vietnam!' probably continues the traditional form of patriotic music. The song does not seem to be for one author or a few people but is suitable for the masses,” said Mr. Do Hong Quan.
