According to archival documents, Tu Quang Pagoda was built very early. In the 9th year of Minh Mang (1828), thanks to the faith of Queen Thuan Thien Cao Tran Thi Dang (mother of King Minh Mang, a native of Van Xa), the pagoda was restored and built on a large scale with items such as the citadel, Tam Quan gate, bell casting, statue carving, etc.

After many times of renovation and expansion with the cooperation and contribution of the people, Tu Quang Pagoda now has a vertical pagoda style, bearing the appearance of an ancient pagoda in Hue , with sophisticated architecture, demonstrating the sophistication in the construction art of the ancients. Along with the communal house, Tu Quang Pagoda is a spiritual destination, a cultural institution that plays an extremely important role in the spiritual life of Van Xa people throughout the process of migration, settlement and settlement.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van An - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Huong Tra Town, Tu Quang Pagoda is not only a cultural relic, but also a part of the history and cultural values ​​of Hue, making an important contribution to the study of historical, cultural, architectural and artistic values ​​of a village pagoda in Hue in particular and the Central region in general. In the coming time, the town will continue to implement plans to preserve, restore, and promote the values ​​of the relic so that Tu Quang Pagoda will always be a cultural and spiritual symbol here.

On this occasion, the local government announced the decision to establish and launch the Tu Quang Pagoda Relic Management Board.

Up to now, in Huong Tra town, there are 12 recognized relics, including 4 national relics and 8 city relics.
