Ms. Nguyen Thi Oanh, the school administrator of Que Phong Ethnic Boarding Secondary School, said: Que Phong is a border district with difficult and complex terrain. Of the 420 students in the 2024-2025 school year, the majority are from remote areas, with their homes 30-50km away from the school.

Therefore, arriving early at school to prepare is essential: "The school has made full preparations, including dormitories, a well-prepared dining area with tables set up, daily menus prepared, life skills training for students provided, dormitory and room regulations, meal marking rules, dining hall regulations, and commitments for students to sign for better compliance."

Currently, there is a shortage of rooms for the children, so the school has arranged for additional beds and living quarters to ensure that the children have adequate food, accommodation, and study facilities," said Teacher Tu Duc Long.

The biggest challenge for schools in mountainous areas of Nghe An province at the start of the new school year is the shortage of teachers. While Que Phong district lacks school administrators, Ky Son district is short of nearly 200 teachers, mainly foreign language and computer science teachers, and despite having vacancies, recruitment is proving difficult.

According to Mr. Lu Thanh Hoa, Head of the Education and Training Department of Que Phong District, in preparation for the 2024-2025 school year, starting from August 1st, teachers have returned from leave, and schools are currently carrying out tasks such as building the pedagogical environment, assigning teachers to classrooms, and developing school year plans. One difficulty at the beginning of the new school year is the shortage of management staff at primary schools due to a lack of qualified candidates for appointment.

Of the 420 students in the 2024-2025 school year, the majority live in remote areas, with their homes 30-50 meters from the school.

In recent years, Nghe An province has paid special attention to investing in physical infrastructure for education, especially in remote and disadvantaged areas. Although there are still certain difficulties in learning conditions, with the attention of all levels and sectors, and the dedication of the teaching staff, the journey to school for students in the mountainous areas of Nghe An has become less arduous.
