Manchester Reds legend lands in Vietnam, fans burst into tears in Ho Chi Minh City

On the afternoon of June 25, the atmosphere at Tam Anh General Hospital (HCMC) was as fiery as a football festival when Manchester Legends including Teddy Sheringham, Wes Brown and Dion Dublin appeared.

The event is the first stop on the journey of the legends to Vietnam, within the framework of the football - medical - community exchange activities in 2025. The former players not only visited the modern facilities at Tam Anh General Hospital (the unit accompanying and sponsoring the "legends") but also directly met with patients, signed shirts, souvenir balls and gave out invitations to the upcoming friendly matches with Vietnamese stars in Hanoi and Da Nang.

Former striker Teddy Sheringham was the most notable face at the event. The Englishman was part of the Manchester team that won the historic treble (Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League) in the 1998/99 season. In the final, Sheringham contributed 1 goal in the classic comeback win over Bayern Munich with a score of 2-1.

This is Sheringham's first time in Vietnam, and he was very impressed with Vietnamese fans. The former English player even expressed surprise and disbelief at how large the fan community here is.

Sheringham has played with many famous names in the past such as Andy Cole, David Beckham, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Dwight Yorke... He owns a collection of many noble titles such as Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup...

During the event, the legends were impressed by the advanced equipment system at the Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Center of Tam Anh General Hospital, where modern technology is applied such as the Dyneelax ligament testing robot, Shockwave treatment machine, RF high frequency waves and R-force zero gravity recovery training system. These are all technologies currently used by many leading European clubs.

Fans present at the hospital could not hide their emotions when they witnessed with their own eyes the famous players who once made up the golden age of the English football team, now close and sharing with the Vietnamese community in a special space: the hospital.

The event not only demonstrates the connection between sports and modern medicine, but also contributes to spreading the message of proactive health care, especially for athletes and sports players. The gifts from the legends - balls, signed jerseys - not only have commemorative value but also a strong message about the spirit of overcoming and the desire to win.

Sharing with the press, the legendary Teddy Sheringham was very impressed with the medical equipment being used at Tam Anh Hospital. He also tried using a device and seemed quite interested.

The experiences at Tam Anh Hospital of former famous players show that the strong development of Vietnamese sports medicine not only keeps up with world trends but is also ready to accompany generations of athletes on every journey: from screening, prevention, examination, diagnosis to treatment, surgery, recovery and return to competition.
