Xuan Loc district proposes to be recognized as a model new rural area

(DN) - According to Chairwoman of Xuan Loc District People's Committee Nguyen Thi Cat Tien, after 6 years of implementing the pilot project to build Xuan Loc district to meet new rural standards (NTM) model in the direction of "Developing sustainable agricultural commodity production" in the period 2018-2025 (Project), up to now, Xuan Loc district has completed 6 groups of general criteria and 29 targets of the Project.

The district proposed that the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee consider and recognize Xuan Loc district for completing the Project. The Provincial People's Committee reviewed and proposed that the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, relevant ministries, branches and the Central Office for New Rural Area Coordination, appraise and submit to the Prime Minister for recognition of Xuan Loc district as a model new rural area in 2024. Propose that the Central Government issue a set of criteria for a model new rural area in the direction of "Developing sustainable agricultural commodity production".

In response to the proposal of the People's Committee of Xuan Loc district, at the meeting of the Steering Committee of the Provincial National Target Programs for the period 2021-2025 held on April 25, Vice Chairwoman of the People's Committee Nguyen Thi Hoang assessed that Xuan Loc has achieved the criteria and targets of a model new-style rural district and completed the Project.

However, the Central Government has not yet issued a set of criteria for a model new-style rural district. Accordingly, Dong Nai continues to send a document requesting the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to consider and recognize Xuan Loc district as a model new-style rural district in 2024. It is expected that in June 2025, the province will organize a summary of the new-style rural construction movement for the period 2021-2025. After abolishing the district level and merging communes and wards, the province will continue to implement new-style rural construction according to the criteria for the period 2025-2030.

According to the report of Xuan Loc District People's Committee, by the end of 2024, the district had achieved all target groups and targets, 1 year earlier than the Project's target. The whole district currently has 14/14 communes meeting advanced NTM standards; 14/14 communes meeting model NTM standards for the period 2021-2025. Of which, 9/14 communes have met model NTM standards in the direction of developing sustainable agricultural commodity production.

The average income per capita of the whole district reached over 95.9 million VND/person, an increase of nearly 36.4 million VND/person compared to the time of project development. The average production value of 1 hectare of cultivated land reached 232.4 million VND, an increase of 78 million VND compared to the time of project development, 12.4 million VND higher than the project target.

The average production value of 1 hectare of land for key crops alone reached 348.5 million VND. In addition, the district achieved all the criteria and goals set for a model new-style rural district such as: a model for sustainable agricultural commodity production; high-tech production, organic agriculture, etc.
