Apple's Wonderlust event will take place at midnight on September 13th (Vietnam time). The iPhone manufacturer will stream the event live on YouTube and Apple TV.
The iPhone 15 is the highlight of the show. Rumors suggest four new iPhone models will be launched tonight: the standard 6.1-inch iPhone 15, the 6.7-inch iPhone 15 Plus, the 6.1-inch iPhone 15 Pro, and the 6.7-inch iPhone 15 Pro Max. Starting prices are expected to be $799, $899, $999, and $1,199 respectively.
Typically, Apple begins selling new iPhones 10 days after the launch event, meaning users can purchase the iPhone 15 on September 22nd.
In terms of color, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus are rumored to come in black, white, blue, and pink. Meanwhile, the two Pro versions will be available in black, gray, blue, titanium, and dark green.
In terms of design, leaked images show that the iPhone 15 will return to a curved design, rounded edges, and all models will feature Dynamic Island. The protruding rear camera module has also been redesigned.
Apple may equip the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max with a Grade 5 titanium frame. The power and volume buttons will be repositioned, while a new Action button will replace the old Mute button. This Action button will be customizable and function as a Mute button.
The biggest design change on the iPhone 15 is the USB-C port, replacing the proprietary Lightning port. The European Union has just mandated that all phones use this port by 2024. However, according to analyst Ming Chi Kuo, the data transfer speeds via the USB-C port on the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus will be slower than on the 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max.
Regarding the camera, according to analysts at Nomura, the standard iPhone 15 also features a 48MP camera upgrade like the iPhone 14 Pro. The iPhone 15 Pro Max boasts the best camera yet, including a periscope lens for better telephoto shots, offering 6x optical zoom, double the 3x zoom on the 14 Pro Max.
Regarding the display, Apple continues to use OLED panels for all four iPhone 15 models, with the iPhone 15 Pro Max potentially featuring a screen with a maximum brightness of 2,500 nits, the highest brightness on a smartphone.
Additionally, according to leaked images, the Pro version has thinner screen bezels, at 1.55mm compared to 2.1mm on its predecessor.
In terms of specifications, it seems only the iPhone 15 Pro will be upgraded with the A17 Bionic chip, while the regular version will use the A16 Bionic chip from the iPhone 14 Pro. TrendForce's report suggests Apple wants to increase the RAM capacity and specifications on the device.
Regarding the battery, rumors suggest that all iPhone 15 models will have larger batteries. As for the operating system, all four models will come pre-installed with iOS 17, the version introduced in June with changes to messaging, FaceTime, and the addition of the new Journal app.
