Improving the quality of teaching and learning through the application of digital transformation.
In recent times, primary schools in Vinh Hung commune have been gradually promoting the application of technology in teaching, management, and connecting with parents, contributing to building a modern, student-centered learning environment. According to statistics, to date, 100% of teachers and staff in Vinh Hung commune possess basic digital skills; and 100% of students are equipped with digital knowledge and skills for learning.

At Vinh Hung Town Primary School, digital technology is gradually changing the way teaching and learning takes place, from managing records and report cards to organizing lessons, tests, and student assessments. 100% of classrooms are equipped with smart TVs or projectors, teaching aids, and high-speed internet access. Teachers proactively develop digital lesson plans, utilize digital learning materials, organize online tests and assessments, and are gradually changing traditional teaching methods.
In a typical English lesson, students were observed to integrate images, videos, interactive games, and artificial intelligence (AI) applications to support pronunciation practice. Instead of passively receiving information, students actively participated by answering questions, practicing dialogues, and directly interacting with the lesson content.
Vo Khoa Lam, a student in class 5A3, shared: “Since the teacher introduced speaking practice software, recording tools, and interactive games, I can listen to my own voice, correct pronunciation errors, and practice repeatedly. Thanks to this, I feel more confident when communicating and find English more accessible and relatable.”
Ms. Tran Thi Quynh Nhu, a teacher at Vinh Hung Town Primary School, said: “For English, the application of digital technology has been very effective in developing students' listening and speaking skills. Through this, students not only acquire vocabulary and grammar but also become more confident in communicating, developing more natural language reflexes.”
Technology is not only applied in larger classes; smaller classes also have access to various learning support platforms. Teachers use Beeclass software for attendance tracking, group interaction, reward points, and creating visual learning activities. Vietnamese language lessons have therefore become more engaging thanks to images and videos, replacing the rigid teaching methods of the past.
In addition to innovating teaching methods, school administration is also being digitized comprehensively. Teacher records, documents, and management data are managed on the VnEdu system; students' academic results are managed through electronic report cards; and parents can monitor their children's progress and receive notifications via a mobile application.
Mr. Nguyen Van Toan, Principal of Vinh Hung Town Primary School, emphasized: “Digital transformation has created a clear change in teaching and learning activities. Teachers are more proactive in designing lessons, students are more interested, and parents also find it more convenient to be closely connected with the school through digital platforms.”
Overcoming difficulties and challenges
Amidst the strong wave of digital transformation spreading throughout the Education and Training sector, despite facing many obstacles, the teachers of My Thanh Primary School (My Thanh commune) are gradually realizing their goal of innovating teaching methods with the spirit of overcoming difficulties, their efforts in self-learning, and their dedication to their students.
The most challenging problem for the school's digital transformation efforts is the funding for equipment. To have televisions for lectures, the school has to balance its budget from its operating funds; each year, the school can only afford to acquire 2-4 additional televisions.
According to Le Thi Ngoc Nuong, Deputy Principal of My Thanh Primary School: “Designing electronic lesson plans requires teachers to invest a lot of time at home. Some older teachers, due to apprehension and slow adoption of technology, sometimes prefer to stick to traditional teaching methods.”
Despite these shortcomings, the self-learning and technology application movement at My Thanh Primary School has been extremely active. Teachers, especially the young teachers, have proactively learned on their own or registered to participate in online training courses organized by the Department of Education and Training, and then wholeheartedly guided their colleagues in the school.

The spirit of overcoming difficulties is clearly evident in the older teachers. A prime example is Mr. Le Van Ky, 59 years old. Although he admits to not being tech-savvy and occasionally having difficulty downloading materials online due to formatting errors, Mr. Ky is very passionate about technology. He always dedicates his free time to independently designing lesson plans and adjusting slides to suit his needs.
Thanks to continuous efforts, the application of digital software and e-learning has been implemented in most subjects. Management tools such as digital student records, digital lesson plans, and classroom assessment software have also been put into operation synchronously by the school.
For digital transformation to be truly effective, especially at the primary school level, a comprehensive investment in equipment and technological infrastructure is essential, along with training for teachers who have the necessary skills to access and operate it. Only then can the goal of educational reform based on a digital platform be implemented extensively and sustainably.
