The IDF said the deployment of paratroopers to Syria was intended to " proactively ensure the defense of the Golan Heights" amid unrest in Syria.
Footage and images show paratroopers and heavily armored tanks being deployed to the buffer zone, as the US and Israel attack multiple targets in Syria following the overthrow of President Bashar al-Assad.
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said Israel also carried out multiple attacks on Syrian chemical weapons sites.

The US and Israel are taking steps to ensure chemical weapons do not fall into the hands of Islamist rebels who now control Syria.
" Our only concern is the security of Israel and the safety of its citizens. That is why we attack strategic weapons systems, such as chemical weapons or long-range missiles and rockets, so that they do not fall into the hands of extremists," said Gideon Saar.
The United States and Israel have praised the overthrow of President Bashar al-Assad's regime, but have also expressed concerns about who will lead Syria moving forward.
Along with that, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also ordered the organization of military deployments and military operations to " act against possible threats".
" One of them is the collapse of the 1974 Agreement that demarcated the border between Israel and Syria. This agreement existed for 50 years. It collapsed. The Syrian army abandoned its positions and we had to order the Israeli army to take over these positions to ensure that no hostile forces penetrate right next to the Israeli border. This is a temporary defensive position until a suitable arrangement is found ," said Benjamin Netanyahu.
