According to ABC News, on December 3, the Israeli army ordered the evacuation of many areas in and around Khan Younis - the second largest city in Gaza - as it expanded its attacks to the south of this land.
UN monitors said the area where residents were told to leave under the evacuation order covers about a quarter of Gaza, which was home to nearly 800,000 people before the conflict. The Israeli military also said it had found 800 tunnels leading down to the Hamas tunnel system.
On the same day, the British Ministry of Defense confirmed that it had conducted surveillance flights over Gaza to locate hostages held by Hamas since its attack on Israel on October 7. The surveillance planes were unarmed drones and were only tasked with locating the hostages. According to the Israeli government, Hamas took about 240 Israelis and foreign hostages in the October 7 conflict. So far, about 110 people have been released during the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.
