Information about the project was announced at the scientific conference “Dinh Dynasty Costumes and Ancient Costumes”, taking place within the framework of the Hoa Lu Festival 2025, on the occasion of the 1,057th anniversary of King Dinh Tien Hoang's coronation.

A representative of BHD production said that Ho Linh Trang Si is not only a martial arts, psychological and emotional film, but also a tragic epic, imbued with national spirit. The story is inspired by a mysterious legend revolving around the tomb of King Dinh - the first king to lay the foundation for an independent Vietnam after more than 1,000 years of Chinese domination.
Having worked as an actor and action director in many famous projects such as Heroic Blood , Dragon Trap , Cradle 2 the Grave , Da 5 Bloods ..., this time Johnny Tri Nguyen returns to Vietnamese cinema as an action director for a historical film.
“For me, every film needs to be new. The action must be different and impressive, especially when making a historical work. I hope that when the audience watches the film, they will feel something profound,” he shared.

Guardian Spirit of the Warriors: The Mystery of King Dinh's Tomb unfolds a dramatic and emotional story. After King Dinh Tien Hoang was assassinated, seven warriors were given a top secret mission: transport 100 coffins in seven different directions to distract the enemy who were plotting to destroy the tomb - a place believed to be the source of prosperity for the nation.
This journey is not only a battle with external enemies, but also a journey through internal struggles – where loyalty, love and sacrifice come together, creating a heroic ballad.
The film also conveys the message: the soul of the country is not only in tombs or ancient relics, but also exists in every beat of life, every step on the homeland.

The project is directed by Nguyen Phan Quang Binh - who has directed works such as Vu Khuc Con Co , Canh Dong Bat Tan , Quyen , Bi Mat Cua Gio.
He said he had been nurturing the idea of making this film for 10 years, after accidentally hearing the legendary story from a ferryman in Ninh Binh .
“Choosing a historical theme is like returning to my roots. I am always proud of my nation’s folk legends. Even though it is a historical film, the production process still encountered many challenges,” director Nguyen Phan Quang Binh shared.
The visual part will be handled by DOP Nguyen K'Linh - who made an impression through the film Tunnels: Sun in the Dark . He believes that the historical theme combined with action elements will be an opportunity to be creative and inspire national pride in the younger generation.
Meanwhile, the music for the film was assigned to musician Quoc Trung - a name associated with many large-scale art projects.

One of the important preparation steps of this project is the costume part. At the workshop, the producer BHD invited ancient costume consulting groups including Dai Viet Co Phong, Vietnam Center, Kinh Bac Legacy, Toc Xanh Vat Ao, Chieu Minh Cac and Great Vietnam to present research, discuss and display costume models based on the Dinh Dynasty.
Currently, BHD has not announced specific plans for the film's production and release.
