Kenny G's return to Vietnam after many years, with a performance on the evening of November 14 at the National Convention Center, Hanoi , in the program "Kenny G Live In Vietnam" organized by Nhan Dan Newspaper in collaboration with IB Group Vietnam, is an opportunity for many audiences of the 7x and 8x generations to return to their youth, with the years of loving and being fascinated by the charming sounds of the saxophone of the artist with characteristic long curly hair.

Kenny G was one of the musical “idols” of students at that time. One of the easiest and fastest ways to get Kenny’s music was to “watch” the broadcast time of the International Music Program on demand on FM radio. Many students were so enamored with Kenny G’s music that they asked their mothers at home to help them record his music when it was broadcast on FM.

The early 8X generation was born when society was still in need, and the Internet was only available when they were in college. In the late 1990s, when public Internet shops first appeared, Kenny G fans would sit there for hours searching for information about their idol, saving images and information on floppy disks, and when needed, they would go to a printing shop.

Hue Street Market is a familiar address for 7x, 8x international music lovers, and Kenny G is one of the artists with the best-selling albums. Many students at that time, even though they had difficulty making ends meet, were willing to empty their pockets to buy all of Kenny G's albums, most of which were smuggled.

The 1990s were arguably Kenny G's decade. His sixth studio album, 'Breathless', released in 1992, became the best-selling instrumental album in history at the time, selling 12 million copies in the US alone. The song 'Forever in Love' from the album also won a Grammy and charted on the Billboard Year-End Hot 100, while the song 'By the Time This Night Is Over' featuring Peabo Bryson peaked at number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100.

In 1992, the blockbuster movie “The Bodyguard” starring Whitney Houston was released, and the youth of that time once again went crazy over Kenny G’s trumpet playing in the soundtrack. The soulful smooth jazz melodies played by Kenny G were the musical standards of that generation.

At that time, the big artists who influenced Vietnamese youth all played very high-quality and pure music, such as Modern Talking, Boney M, Maria Carey, Whitney Houston, Shania Twain, Celine Dion..., and Kenny G was one of them. Regarding instrumental music, Kenny G was the most prominent artist. At that time, in Vietnam, you could listen to Kenny G's music at almost any coffee shop. His music was popular, easy to listen to, sweet and also easy to feel, making both male and female audiences crazy.

The image of a curly-haired artist immersed in the sound of the saxophone was associated with the most beautiful youth of that generation.

Now, having the opportunity to enjoy his trumpet live on the stage of the National Convention Center in Hanoi is like a dream for many people of the 7x and 8x generations. The artist who captivated many people with melodies on the radio or scratched CDs decades ago once again revived wonderful emotions through the melodies of Going Home, Forever in Love, Sentimental, Don't Make Me Wait for Love, Auld Lang Syne...

Kenny G is truly the king of smooth jazz. Rarely has an instrumentalist been invited to collaborate with so many famous singers in many genres like him, from Andrea Bocelli, Frank Sinatra, Natalie Cole, Michael Bolton to Celine Dion, Toni Braxton... In 1997, Kenny G was officially honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame - a recognition of his influence in the music industry.

Despite his success with dozens of studio albums, Kenny G says he prefers performing live. "When I play live, I feel the audience's reactions and emotions at that moment. Just because someone has great musical technique doesn't mean their records are better. Although I am very accommodating to the audience, I also follow my heart."

Because he plays music with all his heart, Kenny G's music after half a century is still not outdated because it is the music of emotions.
