- After more than 5 years of implementation, the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program has created a strong impetus for the rural economy of Lang Son province. The whole province currently has 215 products with 3 stars or more (17 4-star products; 198 3-star products ). To continue developing OCOP products, in addition to continuing to standardize products, combining the development of OCOP products and tourism not only enhances the value of agricultural products but also turns tourism into a bridge to spread local specialties widely.
In September 2025, at the conference to evaluate and classify OCOP products of Lang Son province in 2025, the relic product of Bac Le Community Temple, Tan Thanh commune was highly appreciated by the council and scored and classified as 4-star OCOP.
The fact that the Bac Le Community Temple relic has become the first OCOP tourism product in the province not only expands OCOP products to the tourism sector, but also clearly demonstrates the direction of promoting the consumption of OCOP products associated with key tourism markets that Lang Son province is implementing.
Talking with the leader Mr. Pham Tuyen, Head of Quality, Processing and Market Development Department, Department of Agriculture and Environment, it is known that the province's OCOP products have been changing positively in terms of scale, quality, production and processing processes as well as packaging designs and brand identity systems. This is the step to create momentum for OCOP product owners to promote trade promotion activities, connecting supply and demand for OCOP products through fairs, exhibitions, events to honor, promote and introduce unique OCOP products annually associated with national, regional, local and international culture, as well as promoting the consumption of OCOP products associated with local tourism activities.

Typically, the OCOP products of Bac Son Golden Mandarin - a 4-star OCOP product bearing the brand of the revolutionary land of Bac Son has been promoted and consumed by the product owner at the "Bac Son Golden Season" festival in 2025, which was held in early November 2025. According to statistics from the Economic Department of Bac Son commune, in just 7 days of the "Bac Son Golden Season" festival in 2025, more than 10 tons of Bac Son golden mandarin products were consumed through orders from tourists after experiencing the real thing in the mandarin gardens.
Similar to the Bac Son Golden Mandarin product, the Bo Khai Ngoc Que Tea products (filter bags) and Bo Khai Ngoc Que Tea (instant) (2 4-star OCOP products of Ngoc Que One Member Co., Ltd., Huu Lung commune), from the beginning of 2025 until now, the Board of Directors of Ngoc Que One Member Co., Ltd. has regularly brought these OCOP products to display, promote and consume at traditional festivals, trade fairs in the province, as well as other localities in the country.
Ms. Ngoc Thi Que, Director of Ngoc Que Company Limited, shared that the company has sold thousands of tea products through direct sales to customers attending the events. In addition, after the events, the value of orders for the company's two OCOP tea products also reached more than 500 million VND.

Not only the two OCOP products mentioned above, almost all OCOP products of the province have been brought by the owners (enterprises, cooperatives, production households) to major events (trade, tourism) held in the province and other localities in the country.
According to the report of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, many communes in the province have been developing agricultural tourism, experiential tourism, and community tourism, which are bringing positive results. Through agricultural tourism, experiential tourism, and community tourism, tourists can visit the production process, try products, and buy goods. Therefore, tourism not only brings a large source of consumption but is also a vivid and effective channel to promote local OCOP products. Linking OCOP products with tourism has contributed to increasing the value of OCOP products at this time by 10-15% compared to 2021.
Mr. Nguyen Dang An, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said: The OCOP program is a local product, so promoting the value of local specialties and promoting indigenous cultural values is extremely important. The combination of developing OCOP products and tourism is not only an economic story, OCOP associated with tourism also has profound cultural values.
In practice, it can be seen that when OCOP products are associated with tourism, the products are not only better consumed but also leave a deep impression on tourists and consumers about the culture and unique features of the locality. The combination of OCOP product development and tourism not only contributes to increasing the value of OCOP products but also increases the value of local tourism products. At the same time, this combination also opens up a new direction for the development of cultural tourism of the province associated with the promotion and promotion of local specialty OCOP products.
In the first 11 months of 2025, Lang Son province welcomed more than 3.8 million visitors, with revenue from tourism activities reaching nearly 3.7 trillion VND. And according to the estimate of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in 2025, Lang Son province is likely to welcome about 4.4 million tourists, with total tourism revenue reaching 4.5 trillion VND. These actual figures demonstrate the great potential when OCOP product development and tourism go hand in hand. |
