Since the beginning of the year, the health sector has coordinated with departments, branches, organizations, and local authorities to deploy measures to prevent and control dengue fever in hamlets and residential areas. In particular, the work of monitoring localities with old epidemic outbreaks, and propagating and instructing people to clean the environment to kill mosquitoes and larvae in households. Ms. Nguyen Thanh Thuy, a medical collaborator in residential area 7, Thoi Binh commune, said, "When the rainy season comes, I go to households to propagate measures to kill larvae and mosquitoes such as: cleaning around the house, turning water containers upside down, and releasing guppies to eat larvae. Recently, people have actively participated in preventing and fighting the epidemic."
Currently, heavy rainfall has created favorable conditions for mosquitoes to thrive, and the risk of dengue fever outbreaks is at any time if disease prevention work is not carried out regularly. Recorded in Hamlet 7, Thoi Binh Commune, through propaganda work, people's awareness has gradually been raised. Households have seen the dangers of dengue fever and have proactively carried out mosquito and larvae eradication work. Mr. Le Minh Thang, Hamlet 7, Thoi Binh Commune said, "My family regularly cleans around the house to remove mosquito larvae containers. My family has a few jars to store rainwater, and I have covered them tightly to prevent mosquitoes from breeding." Ms. Huynh Thi Nga, Hamlet 7, Thoi Binh Commune shared, "Currently, dengue fever is also occurring in adults, so I am very scared. When medical staff came to guide me, I followed them, and thanks to that, the number of mosquitoes here has decreased significantly."
In order for each citizen and each family to participate in dengue fever prevention, the health sector has organized a launching ceremony calling on the community to respond. With the theme "Community action - repelling dengue fever", the health sector hopes for strong coordination from departments, branches, organizations and local authorities to synchronously deploy solutions to prevent and control the epidemic. Doctor Vuong Huu Tien, Deputy Director of the Department of Health of Ca Mau province, called on the community to participate in dengue fever prevention and control. "The dengue fever epidemic situation is forecasted to become complicated in the last months of the year. Therefore, I hope to have the active participation of departments, branches, organizations and local authorities in dengue fever prevention and control. In particular, it is the proactive awareness of each citizen, regularly implementing measures to kill mosquitoes and lice at home. Only then will dengue fever prevention and control be truly effective".
Dengue fever is a dangerous infectious disease and there is no specific treatment. The most effective preventive measure is to actively kill larvae and mosquitoes. In particular, there must be regular and continuous participation of the whole community.
