Call on the community to prevent dengue fever

The dengue fever situation in the whole country this year is complicated, Ca Mau province alone has recorded more than 320 cases since the beginning of the year. The epidemic is forecast to increase in the coming time, so the health sector calls on the community to actively participate in measures to prevent and control dengue fever.

Since the beginning of the year, the health sector has coordinated with departments, branches, organizations, and local authorities to deploy measures to prevent and control dengue fever in hamlets and residential areas. In particular, the work of monitoring localities with old epidemic outbreaks, and propagating and instructing people to clean the environment to kill mosquitoes and larvae in households. Ms. Nguyen Thanh Thuy, a medical collaborator in residential area 7, Thoi Binh commune, said, "When the rainy season begins, I go to households to propagate measures to kill larvae and mosquitoes such as: cleaning around the house, turning water containers upside down, and releasing guppies to eat larvae. Recently, people have actively participated in disease prevention and control."

Currently, heavy rainfall has created favorable conditions for mosquitoes to thrive, and the risk of dengue fever outbreaks is at any time if disease prevention work is not carried out regularly. Recorded in Hamlet 7, Thoi Binh Commune, through propaganda work, people have gradually raised awareness. Households have seen the dangers of dengue fever and proactively carried out mosquito and mosquito eradication work. Mr. Le Minh Thang, Hamlet 7, Thoi Binh Commune said, "My family regularly cleans around the house to remove mosquito larvae containers. My house has a few jars to store rainwater, I have covered them tightly to prevent mosquitoes from breeding." Ms. Huynh Thi Nga, Hamlet 7, Thoi Binh Commune shared, "Currently, dengue fever occurs in adults, so I am very scared. When medical staff came to guide me, I followed them, thanks to that, the number of mosquitoes here has decreased significantly."

In order for each person and each family to participate in the work of preventing dengue fever, the health sector has organized a launching ceremony calling on the community to respond. With the theme "Community action - repelling dengue fever", the health sector hopes for strong coordination from departments, branches, organizations and local authorities to synchronously deploy solutions to prevent and control the epidemic. Doctor Vuong Huu Tien, Deputy Director of the Department of Health of Ca Mau province, called on the community to participate in preventing and controlling dengue fever. "The dengue epidemic situation is forecasted to become complicated in the last months of the year. Therefore, I hope to have the active participation of departments, branches, organizations and local authorities in preventing and controlling dengue fever. In particular, the proactive awareness of each person, regularly implementing measures to kill lice and mosquitoes at home. Only then will the work of preventing and controlling dengue fever be truly effective".

Dengue fever is a dangerous infectious disease and there is no specific treatment. The most effective prevention measure is to actively kill larvae and mosquitoes. In particular, there must be regular and continuous participation of the whole community.
