The interdisciplinary inspection team led by Mr. Hoang Ly Tuong, Head of the Food Safety Sub-Department as Deputy Head of the team inspected a number of establishments in An Xuyen Ward, Ca Mau City. The inspection focused on assessing the level of compliance with legal regulations on food safety, especially for products serving the Mid-Autumn Festival such as: Moon cakes, in cakes, pia cakes and other processed foods.

This activity aims to promptly detect and recall unsafe products, strictly handle violations, and publicize information about violating establishments in the media. In case of signs of crime, the file will be transferred to the police according to regulations.

Through actual inspection, most of the monitored establishments complied well with regulations on food production, processing and trading. Preservation procedures, personal hygiene, and production area hygiene were carried out according to regulations, and no violations were detected.

However, the delegation also reminded the establishments to further strengthen the hygiene of production areas, pay attention to product preservation during transportation, especially in erratic weather conditions. At the same time, the delegation took food samples at a number of establishments to send for testing, ensuring safety before reaching consumers.

Mr. Hoang Ly Tuong said that although the establishments have made a lot of progress, basically meeting the legal regulations, because most of them are small-scale establishments, closely related to family activities, there are still certain limitations. "The inspection team reminded people to pay attention to the origin and full labeling when importing goods. During the business process, it is necessary to preserve the products from the sun and rain, which will affect the quality. If the product is found to be damaged or moldy, the establishment is absolutely not allowed to do business. If there is a violation, it will be strictly handled according to the law," Mr. Tuong emphasized.

At the same time, he also recommended that people should choose to buy products with intact packaging, not torn, not bulging or showing any unusual signs. People should limit buying moon cakes through online sales channels, especially products labeled as “homemade” at cheap prices because it is difficult to control quality, potentially posing a risk of food safety.

At the Kim Thanh cake and pia cake production facility (An Xuyen ward), Mr. Tran Chi Hiep, the owner, shared: “My family has a 4-generation tradition of making cakes, so maintaining reputation and ensuring food hygiene and safety are always top priorities. We carefully select ingredients, regularly clean production equipment, have employees undergo periodic health check-ups and participate in food safety training to meet management requirements.”

Mid-Autumn Festival is an occasion when food consumption demand increases, posing many potential risks if not strictly controlled. The efforts of the authorities of Ca Mau province in inspection and supervision, together with the sense of responsibility of production and business establishments will contribute to ensuring food safety, preventing poisoning, protecting public health and bringing a peaceful and complete Mid-Autumn Festival to every family.
