According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, in the first 9 months of the year, the total transport output of the whole market is estimated at 64.1 million passengers and 1.1 million tons of cargo, up 10.7% and 18.7% respectively over the same period last year.
Domestic and foreign airlines accelerate together
Evaluating this result, Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam Uong Viet Dung said that the strong growth reflects the sustainable recovery of the aviation transport market, thanks to the open-door policy, the return of international tourism and the increasingly improved exploitation capacity of Vietnamese airlines.
Not only output growth, favorable input is also supporting the industry. In a recent report, KIS Vietnam Securities (KIS) stated that capacity expansion during peak season along with low fuel costs has helped airlines have a "golden time" for profits.
In particular, input cost pressure on airlines has decreased sharply in the first two quarters of the year thanks to the cooling of jet fuel prices. The average price of Jet A1 gasoline in the first 6 months of 2025 on the world market is at 86-88 USD/barrel, while the average level last year approached 99 USD/barrel.
According to experts, with double-digit growth rates and a global recovery trend, Vietnam’s aviation market is approaching a new breakthrough period. If this momentum is maintained, Vietnam can soon regain its pre-pandemic transport scale and rise to the group of most dynamic aviation markets in the Asia- Pacific region.
“Vietnam is one of our most dynamic and successful markets in Southeast Asia, with a diverse mix of tourists, business travelers and passengers connecting through Seoul,” Ms. Kyoung Hee Kang, Country Manager of Korean Air in Vietnam, emphasized in a recent share.
Korean Air has been present in Vietnam for a long time, currently operating 5 destinations including: Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, Cam Ranh (Nha Trang) and Phu Quoc. In the first 6 months of 2025, the airline recorded transporting 374,788 passengers between Korea and Vietnam, an increase of 4% over the same period last year.

Not only Korean Air, the race in the Vietnamese sky also attracts a series of large foreign airlines such as Emirates, Japan Airlines, Cathay Pacific, China Southern Airlines, Air France, British Airways, Qatar Airways...
The whole industry is growing
As for domestic enterprises, Vietnam Airlines has just had the second consecutive quarter maintaining a profit of over 3,000 billion VND. Compared to the golden period of 2017-2019, Vietnam Airlines' highest consolidated profit for the whole year was only nearly 2,500 billion VND.
In the first half of the year, Vietnam Airlines recorded consolidated revenue of more than VND58,680 billion, pre-tax profit of VND6,682 billion - an increase of 19% over the same period. This is also the highest semi-annual profit ever and exceeds the company's 2025 business target.
Similarly, Vietjet Air also grew strongly after the first half of the year with consolidated revenue of VND35,800 billion - the highest level since its listing in 2017. Vietjet's consolidated pre-tax profit was about VND1,600 billion, up 65% compared to the first half of last year.
As for Bamboo Airways, updating the situation in the first 6 months of this year, General Director Luong Hoai Nam emphasized that this airline has almost no more losses in its air transport business.
In the group of supporting enterprises, Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) also grew by double digits in the second quarter of 2025, with revenue reaching VND6,340 billion.
The company associated with Mr. Johnathan Hanh Nguyen (Sasco) saw a 62% increase in profits in the second quarter. In the first 6 months, Sasco achieved a pre-tax profit of nearly 280 billion VND - double the first two quarters of 2024 and the highest level since 2020.
Noi Bai Cargo Services Joint Stock Company (NCT) increased its net profit by 32% to nearly VND150 billion. Similarly, pre-tax profit of Saigon Cargo Services Company (SCS) in the past 6 months reached nearly VND450 billion, up nearly 18%.
Draft Law on Civil Aviation (amended) - expected to be submitted to the National Assembly for approval in October 2025. This is considered an important adjustment step for the legal framework to keep up with the development speed of the aviation industry, especially in the context that Vietnam is implementing many large infrastructure projects such as Long Thanh International Airport, expanding Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat airports and promoting regional aviation - tourism linkages.
